I bought this off a fellow who needed some cash. Gave him $450 for it. Did I give too much? I'd rate the pistol 90% and of course he had no box or manual/

You can get a 10" blued Super Blackhawk at Buds right now for $490 or so... Add the premium for stainless, I'd estimate $520-530 brand new.

If you like it, then it's a good deal... You could have gotten it cheaper.

If the guy is a friend, then it's all good, your Karma just went up a few points.

I've got one of those.

Go shoot it. It's fun!

Be advised, different loads shoot to very, very different vertical POI. Make sure your grip is consistent from shot to shot.

With it sighted in, and a consistent grip, I shoot paper targets at 100 yards standing offhand (two-handed) with handloads. It's easier than it sounds, and a hoot.

I originally picked it up for incidental deer hunting (Ruger sells a Triple-K holster for it, and it actually is belt-carryable, if you don't expect to sit down in a vehicle with it on). I haven't used it for that, mainly since I moved to a different area with very different hunting. One of these days, I still plan to.

$510 including shipping from Bud's for 10 1/2" stainless

You may have come out on the short end of the stick, dollar-wise, but sometimes we do that to help another person out.

IMHO, if the purchase didn't do any fiscal harm to you or put you in a bind, you did OK and you did a good deed for the day.

Agreed.

Now go shoot it!:D

the only 44 mag I had that I wished I would have kept was the Ruger SBH with the 10 inch barrel. I had a 7.5 inch SBH and both barrel lengths of the Redhawk and by far the 10 incher was the best of the bunch.

Sweet revolver but how do fit it in your pocket?
just kidding :D
$450 seems a little high, but hey u helped the guy out.

I did stuff it down my pants once (loading gate open, cowboy concealed carry). It is concealable, as long as you don't walk. It's kind of obvious that you've got a big hunk of metal down your leg.:)

I can OC mine. One of these days, I'll have to do that, just for fun. Here's the holster: http://shopruger.com/Large-Frame-Single-Action-Revolver-Holster-105-barrel/productinfo/84187/

Note that the holster doesn't look like the one in the picture. It's a LOT longer.:D

Yeah I really had no clue but thought at least it would be in the ballpark. Hopefully I can sell it and not have to lose too much on it. Really too expensive to shoot at least it would be for me as I don't reload.

I started reloading because of my 10 1/2" SBH. I don't regret it in the least.:)

With .44 Magnum, a reloading setup will pay for itself in 150 rounds.

Unless you need the money, I'd be reluctant to sell the thing. Seriously.

Yeah I will more than likely just keep it. I also bought a Stainless Redhawk from him for $400. Going to have to change out the grips on that one. Which to go with....Hogue or Pachmayr??

Make me wish for the only revolver on my "wishlist". The first handgun I ever got to fire was when I was 10 and a friend of my mother's let me shoot his Super Redhawk .44 magnum. The first shot nearly broke my trigger finger because I wasn't gripping tight enough and the trigger guard caught my finger, but I was hooked. I think I surprised the guy when I shook it off and declined his .22 rifle in favor of firing the .44 some more.(albeit with a much firmer grip) :)

Anyways back to topic, if you think it is worth it, then it is. Shoot it and have fun.

Did you get a great deal? Maybe not, but you didn't get ripped off either. I consider it a fair price for what you got. Definately nothing to complain or feel bad about. Nice revolver. My new thing is I want to get into handgun hunting. I would love to have a nice six gun like that. You did fine.

I think it is sweet... I have that one on my list for sure... it was bumped down a bit when a smith 29 fell in my lap last week, but still wanting one of those for sure... I'd give that price for one in good shape... well worth it in my opinion.

I have a 5-1/2" Stainless Ruger Vaquero in 44 Mag my dear sweet wife bought for me for Christmas one year to help a guy out. She paid $450 for it as well and yes, she over-paid. But I love the gun dearly not only for the fact that she got it for me, but I do reload a ton for it and have come up woth some decent shooting rounds (6.5gr Red Dot over a magnum primer pushing a 240gr LSWC). I certainly wish I had that SBH in 10-1/2" (My dad had a Blued SBH with black Pachmayer's when I was a kid). Hell, I'd drive to Idaho to trade you straight up.

I've had a blued version of this revolver for a number of years. I have a Leupold scope with a Weaver mount on it, and have shot it on 100 yard ranges with handloads with very good results. I have put on Hogue grips to get rid of that squared off trigger guard that used to beat the heck out of my finger, and lately my arthritic hands have started to complain about handgun recoil. I thought about trading it off for something lighter, but instead just loaded it down a bit. Glad I didn't sell it!! I've put some "ball bustin'" rounds through this gun over the years, and it doesn't complain one bit. You can have a lot of fun with this gun, and it won't let you down.
You did all right. It is well worth the price you paid. Just shoot and enjoy it.
