I own a Super Comanche that I could not hit the broad side of a barn with. The trigger pull is tough, I can not find a scope mount, and the current sights are pretty bad.
I ordered this from a catalog, so when it came in I just went ahead and took it.
Have any of you been able to increase the accuracy of this? I originally thought I may use it for deer hunting (With 45lc). The way it is however, the deer would have to be less than 20 yards off!
Thanks,
Keith

Oh, by the way. I learned never shoot the .410 ammo that has a full metal shell. I had to beat the shell out!

IMHO neither the Judge nor super Comanche would be my first choice for any type of hunting. You can argue until the cows come home about the suitability of using them for self defence, but it was never designed for hunting. It has shallow rifling to enable the 410 shot to have some semblance of a pattern, and the long throat jump for the 45 Colt does not help accuracy. If you can even hit the target { IMO } at 20 yards using 45 colt then you have an exceptionally accurate Comanche. Of course that is just my opnion and like belly buttons every one has one.;)

Haven't heard much about them that's any different than what Ron James said above. I know someone that bought one a few years ago and they weren't too happy with the performance either. Like the Judge, it's more gimmick than purposeful. tried to grab some interest from the Contender crowd in style but IMO, failed.

Rifles/pistols and shotguns should remain seperate guns unless you are willing to buy some sort of combination gun like the Savage 24.

When you try to get the best of both worlds with something like the comanche or the judge what you really get is a weapon that performs poorly in all categories.

Will these two guns work at extreme close ranges? Sure but so would a regular .45 LC handgun and a regular .45 LC handgun would retain it's accuracy past 20 yards.

Yea, I know. I got it though. I took it to the gunsmith today to see if he could reduce the trigger pull.

I bought my Contender with a 10" .45/.410 barrel for a first barrel. I thought I'd deer hunt with it. I DID get it to shoot about 7" at 100 yards with a scope in place shooting heavy TC/Ruger only loads with a jacketed 300 grain XTP moving out at about 1200 fps. These guns will lead and strip rifling with lead bullets due to the long freebore. Jacketed bullets shoot much better.

But, actually, I got a .30-30 barrel for that contender and now just use the .410/.45 Colt barrel for knockin' around off season shooting at starlings and the occasional rabbit with the .410 in place. It will shoot well enough with the irons to put .45 Colt into 3.5" at 50 yards which makes it a viable hunting pistol, but I have better, more accurate hunting pistols. My .30-30 barrel shoots 1.5" at 100 yards with a 2x LER scope and 3" at 200 yards. The .45 is not a 200 yard caliber even if it were chambered in a proper .45 Colt barrel.

My 4 5/8" Ruger .45 Colt blackhawk will put 5 rounds into 2" at 50 yards. There are better choices in guns for hunting. The Super Commanche is a neat toy and fun to play with, but not on my short list of ideal hunting handguns.
