Hi Busyhands. You seem to have done more in-depth research than most on form and function of the NAA Super Companion than some, so I'll begin by asking you. As you may know I just took delivery of my little Super Companion, and am just today getting to try him out. CCI Magnum #11 caps will not consistantly seat far enough to let me install the cylinder. Someone told me NAA only wants you to use Remington caps. What's the difference and since I prefer the CCI, what are my options? Thanks, Don.

i found Remington #10 caps work perfectly. they go onto the nipples without much resistance, merely a push of the finger. but they seal very well and they won't make it difficult to get the cylinder in quickly. they are reliable too. i think that the CCI caps are a little narrower in diameter, and there is more priming compound. happy shooting!

Hi Busyhands. I got your message and will head over to Gander Mountain for more Remington caps (no Cabela's here). I use CCI 11's on the ROA's and have over 2000 in my stock. Shame they won't fit my NAA, but still well worth the fun. Thanks again, Don.

Went to Gander Mountain in Bowling Green and was told they only stock Winchester caps. Bought a tin hoping they would seat low enough to work, but still could not get the cylinder to insert. I can use them on my ROA's though. I consoled myself by polishing my Super Companion nicely. Has a handsome sheen on the formerly matte areas and a high polish on the factory polished areas. His name is "Tiny". We'll be spending backyard time together in the near future, if I can find some 12 shot.... One more place to try here locally. An explosives distributor across town who is big into the shooting scene and reloading. Maybe I'll luck out and find #4 buck too, so I can enjoy roundball in Tiny. Wish me luck. I refuse to spend $25 on a hazmat fee to buy $5.00 worth of caps...Don

you could probably just order 1000, or even 2000 to justify the hazmat fee, and maybe even throw some powder in there to make it worth it. i wanna try some round ball loads in my Super Companion sometime! that would be sweet! or i could top off my shot with a round ball and use it like a buck and ball load! that would rock!

Seems I read somewhere that the only difference between CCI #11 caps and Remington #10s was that the Remington caps are shorter by several thousandths of an inch than the CCI #11s. The inside diameter is the same, according to that info. Wish I could remember where I saw it. I know when I use the Remington #10s on my ROA, they fit my Treso nipples just as snugly as the CCI #11s do. They both just slide right on, no pinching and no forcing.

Hope this helps.

well the CCI caps are more powerful, they contain more priming compound. i noticed i couldn't get my Super Companion cylinder in when i was using CCI caps, but Remmy caps work perfectly because they contain just enough to reliably set off the powder, but not enough to hinder the insertion of the cylinder. besides, who wants to risk forcing a loaded cylinder into a gun right? i wouldn't. i had three rounds go off in my bedroom from doing that in my .22 LR companion. spent the rest of the day with ringing in my ears and nearly jumped out of my skin when the dang thing went off. remember kids, don't use the plastic kind, they don't fit right and are too sensitive to pressure.
