I just traded for a SRH 454 Casull in the target grey. I was thinking of tradeing my Python off for a Anaconda, but I walked into my LGS and there sat the SRH. So I went back home and pulled out one of the 357's I had and did the trade with them. They gave me what the S&W was worth so they're happy and so am I:D This one came with the box and everything including a set of rings for a scope. I'm glad it'll shoot 45LC as I looked at the price of 454 and it was like $2.50 a bullet.:what: Anyway can't wait to get it to the range.

I had one until earlier this year when I traded it for a P345 for carry. I killed two deer with that weapon and they dropped where they stood. Mine liked the Hornady 240Gr. XTP-MAG's. Win Supreme 260's were pretty good from it too. Both were hard on the hands and ears though. Protect your ears with this one!!!

I haven't priced any .454 ammo in awhile but I was getting those Hornady's for like 1.00 a round back then. I guess it's all going up though. Time to start reloading bro. :)

Nice revo, I like mine.

Keep in mind that the twist rate (1:24) is designed around .454 rather than .45 Colt, so often the really slow moving cowboy plinkers that are well under 1000 fps don't group as well as hotter loads. Push the .45 Colts a bit faster and they'll group fine. Scroll to the bottom of Taffin's review and there's a table of his groups at 25 yards with a range of factory and handloads in both calibers.

If you don't handload, check out DoubleTap for ammo. Top notch .454 and +p .45 Colt. .45 Colt very controllable in the Super Red, and those Doubletap loads will punch two holes in any animal on the continent.

Sweet and I'm a member of Sportsman's Guide. While I'm here what kind of holster do you carry these hoglegs around in?? Is a belt holster or bandalera holster better??? Thanks in advance......Jerry

Congratulations on your ruger !! my kids got me the same gun for fathers day this year ! i love it ! It got me started in reloading because of the cost !! :what: So now i have another hobby !!I have been shooting 250 grain JHPs over 28grains of IMR4227 ! this load is accurate and the recoil and noise is considerably less than the factry Winchester 300 grain !

I used an Uncle Mikes size 4 shoulder holster. Made it easier to carry. I tried the scope and bandolier. Came to like the open sights better. Bandolier was awkward for me. Always seemed to be in the way. Belt carry tried to pull my britches down.
