I am having a difficult time finding load data on Hodgden Superformance powder for my 22-250 and 223.

Has anyone used this powder before and if so where did you get the data?

Thanks

Looking on the Hodgdon www, I see Superformance data only for the heavier bullets in .22-250. I conclude it is too slow burning for .223 and ordinary .22-250.

Hodgdon says: "Because this propellant is tailored for specific applications, the number of cartridges and bullets is limited"

When Hodgdon released Superformance they told us that powder was meant for a narrow range of cartridges, not across the board use like many other powders. In the beginning Hodgdon was releasing data weekly for more cartridges but by now if Hodgdon doesn't have data for a cartridge on their site it's not recommended for that application. There is usually a very good reason why a powder manufacturer/distributor does not have data for a cartridge/powder combination.

*From the Hodgdon Site*
Because this propellant is tailored for specific applications, the number of cartridges and bullets is limited, but where it works, it really works!

There is a common misconception that "Superformance" powder is the same powder Hornady uses in their Superformance ammunition. Although this may be true in certain cartridges that take slow burning powders like the 300 WSM,it is not true for the rest of Hornady's Superformance ammunition line-up.

Superformance has a burn rate Slower that the 4831's, way to slow burning for the 223/5.56. Yes, Hornady makes Superformance ammunition in 223, but you can bet it is not filled with Hodgdon Superformance powder, it's just to slow, way to slow for the 223.

Hodgdon has data for the 22-250 for the 60, 62,63,70gr bullets found here.

You will not find data for the 223, anywhere, it is to slow.

The same is also true for Hodgdon Leverevolution powder. The powders used in the Hornady LVR ammo are not the same as what you buy from Hodgdon, it's custom mixed for all the LVR ammo Hornady makes. According to my communications with Hodgdon the LVR powder on the shelf is closest to what's used in the Hornady 30-30 LVR ammo. That's good for me since that's what I'm loading with it... lol
