Hello all,
I picked up a 1968 Hamden manufacture High Standard Supermatic Trophy with the 7.25" fluted barrel. The gun is LNIB with 2 red bottomed mags and all the original paper work. I got the gun for $600 out the door. Is that a fair deal?

I have a couple of A series model 41's and love them. The fit and finish of this HS is every bit as good as my S&W's. What do you guys think of the HS vs. the model 41?

Thanks,

Randy

I have a 41 but the Citation gets shot more. The only weak point is the availability and tuning of magazines. Take care of your factory mags.

I have a pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 41, a High Standard Trophy, and two High Standard Victors.

The Trophy stands head and shoulders above the rest.

It's an East Hardford rather than Hamden gun, purchased new in 1978. I shot competitively with it for several years, then abandoned shooting to take up computing. It took up closet space for well over a decade. When I finally took it to the range again, I loaded a magazine, and it continued to perform flawlessly. It's never had a failure to feed. It's never had a failure to fire. It's never had a failure to extract. I've never put a high-powered round through it, and never will. I had all the springs replaced with Wolff springs about two years ago, not because it was necessary, but because this gun deserves to be babied. Since I still haven't bought a safe, it lives in a bank box almost all the time.

The best place for High Standard information I've found is Jim Spacek's site: http://users.ntplx.net/~tm/jspacek.htm
