Andre 3000 prefers carrying a gun instead of having bodyguards
Washington, Oct 9: Outkast singer Andre 3000 has revealed that he feels safer carrying a gun with him rather than have bodyguards around him.
The 'Hey Ya!' hitmaker maintains that carrying a firearm is necessary to protect himself and his nine-year-old son Steven at their home as he doesn't like having bodyguards. The rapper also said that he will buy his son a gun when he is old enough to use one.
"Of course I carry a gun. I don't advertise the fact, but I need to have a gun with me at all times. I don't see what's wrong with that. To me it makes sense. I don't like to have bodyguards with me. I don't have them in my house, so I've got to have something to protect myself with," Ratethemusic quoted him as saying.
"If I am with my son I am even more concerned to protect myself and protect him with a gun. I would want my son to have a gun when he gets older. It's just something you've got to have if you want to live and be safe," he added.
The singer has also explained explicit rap lyrics to his son, because he believes it is important for the nine-year-old to understand the language of the street. He also said that he had no intention of sheltering his son from the violence prevalent in modern America, and is convinced it's his responsibility to provide Steven with a realistic understanding of street life.
