anyone ever done this?

figure its along the same lines as the 300 whisper or 338 whisper, only much much bigger.

you could load up a 540 grain thumper at about 1050 fps and really lob some lead in. (it'd probably be akin to artillery though ;))

course it wouldnt be any good for more than about 200 yrds, but it would probably be pretty entertaining.

Talk to Wild Alaska. They're always doing silly things with large bores.

In all honesty, I do plan on getting a suppressed .45-70 one day, probably before the quad .50, but after the suppressed .22.

Well, it would take a lot of powder to launch 540 grains of lead at 1000 fps compared to say a 40 grain .22 LR. All that powder gas has to be cooled down before you let it out into the atmosphere. I'm not an expert, but I imagine it would take a rather large suppressor to do this successfully.

But hey, if you can suppress a .50 BMG, why not a .45/70?
