Suppressed 50 Caliber Muzzleloader

I love the idea, as a thumb in the eye of the NFA. I hate the execution however. If they hadn’t welded it onto the end of a cheap Traditions rifle it would have been more appealing. Think about this on a smokeless muzzleloader platform: that has some real merit IMO. Takes care of the cleaning problem and gives it some real-world practicality.

The suppressor is mounted on a Traditions Vortek Strikefire .50
That Vortek model alone costs $398 at muzzle-loaders.com
Here's a 24 second video of a guy shooting the Maxim .50 version and hitting a 3' x 3' gong at 300 yards:

The use of suppressors while hunting is legal and encouraged in many European countries, including Scandinavia and the UK.

“…Suppressors are legal to own and hunt with throughout many countries in Europe and elsewhere. Finland is one. So are Norway and Sweden. And in the UK their use is mandatory in some cases…”--->>> https://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gun-shots/2011/02/dumbest-gun-law-ever

Written just like a fellow who lives and hunts in an area with lots of room.
How would you like to own 1000 acres and as time went on the surrounding farms became neighborhoods, and one day woke up to find that the government had ruled your area a "no shoot zone", and included bows, crossbows, and air rifles in that law?
OH and if you used a bow, crossbow, or a silenced ML on your land (because the government previously outlawed center fired rifles for hunting in your county) you'd be poaching, because you'd be taking game where it was prohibited.
Now you know the reality of some of us not blessed to be in Kansas.

Don't try to lecture me on "anti talk". PETA was literally HQ'd a half block from where I work for decades.

Vote with your feet? Just a thought.

Personally, I ain't so into cans that I'd spend the thousand bucks. I live where I can shoot and not bother anyone. On cleaning, run hot soapy water through the can.

Interesting 1:36 minute video that shows 240 grain Powerbelt HP performance out of a Maxim .50 fired at a subsonic speed of about 880 FPS.
The mostly soft lead hollow point bullet easily plowed through 5 gallons of water and doesn't seem to expand at all, only flattens after it hits a steel plate.
I think that this 30 grain load of 777 may simulate a BP revolver hunting load with heavy conicals such as the Kaido bullet.
The shooter has made a lot of short videos about the Maxim .50.

Poacher's gun? Assassin's gun? If a person is going to do something illegal he is not going to worry about whether the tool he is using is illegal also. An oil filter makes a fairly effective suppressor, as can be seen in this video:

Some states call a muzzleloader a firearm. They have so informed the maker of the suppressed muzzleloader.
They can call it a milk cow and to the resident of that state, by god it’s a milk cow. To the ATF, and most of the rest of us, it’s a replica firearm, and not a firearm.

“Poacher's gun? Assassin's gun?”

Exactly. I’m disappointed in the reactionary take from many in our community. As if, upon seeing a five and a half foot long firearm with a limited range (puking out smoke and steam) and only a single shot capacity, my reaction should be to assume it’ll be used for nefarious purposes... all of you have the equipment necessary to be rapists, should we put you on a federal sex crimes watchlist? Shaking my head...
