I recently got to take my Osprey .45 home and I'm considering it's use on other guns in .40 and/or 9mm. I'm trying to find out how effective it and other .45 cans are on those calibers. Does anybody have experience with such or can point me in the direction of some sound tests?

Typically a 9mm shot through a .45 can will be a few decibels louder than if it was shot through a dedicated 9mm can, but should still be quiet. As far as data goes I know Silencerco has a video out there shooting/metering sub calibers, and I think NFATalk might have some sound level data on some 9mms shot through .45 cans.

I believe the TiRant will be ear-safe (<= 140dB) dry in sub caliber use. The Osprey is also a very good can and you should be close.

I use my Osprey 45 with .45 ACP, .40 S&W, and 9mm.

With subsonic ammunition, all three are substantially quiet.

Check SilencerCo's YouTube channel; there is a test showing the Osprey 45 with sub-calibers.
