Yeah, it's a flashlight. They rate it as 120 Lumens, but some have measured it at 170-180 Lumens. It is brighter than my Fenix P2D Q5 Premium on 'turbo' - which supposedly is 180 Lumens - with fresh S-F CR123s for everybody.

Ah, but can a flashlight be a weapon? This one can. It's front and rear are crenellated - scalloped. That makes the light an effective strike weapon, coming or going - as designed and promoted. The length, 5.4", allows the ends to be proud of your hand grip, making it more 'effective' at beaning someone. First, it's bright enough to temporarily blind/disorient your attacker - then you crown him - neat.

It's beautifully made, of course, but only runs 2hr at that level. Click it again, and it is a rear click push button that can stand on it's scalloped tailcap, if necessary, and you have five lumens - enough to read a map at night - and it'll run three days plus at that level. It aint cheap - $149 MSRP - but some mail order sites throw in shipping and a handful of spare CR123s - get Surefire's cells if you can - they are the best. All made in the USA, too. Mine has a home.

I got an E2DL for my birthday and it's turned into my one of my favorite lights, and I use it for EDC. The throw on it is amazing, and the beam is wonderfully bright and white. It goes everywhere with me and has done an amazing job lighting up things so far. I appreciate the size and the quality of light; only thing I've done to it is swap out the short clip for the long one. Surefire did it right with the E2DL by using the TIR optic and a user friendly clickie, and I actually wouldn't mind having another one. There are days when I wish I had a light without the crenelated bezel, but I'm in love with the light nonetheless.

I love this one so much it displaced my poor A2 Aviator.
