Hey gang! Well I did it:

I called GG&G and they said they had a left hand model of their forend light mount in stock. I bought it along with one of their light mounting rings, recommended by the guy who answered the phone. They seem like nice people! I have a Surefire G2X Tactical flashlight on it but do have a FAB Defense Speed Light on order, which is about 1 1/2" shorter than this light and very compact.

I am going to hit the range tomorrow when my case of slugs comes in from UPS. The local indoor range allows nothing but slugs, and this will give time for the Loctite to set up. My only concern is that the rail section is going to smack into my hand under recoil, it very well might and I am prepared with a plan "B" if it happens:

I got a Remington +2 extension and am using an old CDM MOD-C mount but will probably get an Elzetta high output shotgun illumination kit which comes with their mount and their B142 flashlight. Pricey but supposed to be top of the line kit.

I would prefer that the 4+1 setup is the successful one. The gun handle so incredibly well with the stock tube, but if my hand gets beat up too bad, I'll just go with a +2 extension and add a good light and mount. Here's to hoping but if not I am sure I'll get used to the +2 extension with time and practice. :)

I'll let you all know how the range trip goes tomorrow!

Hi guys! Just got back from the range.

I fired 35 rounds of slugs in total, 25 rounds of Federal Power-Shok 1 oz Fosters and 10 rounds of Brenneke K.O. 1 oz slugs.

I experienced no discomfort except on one round when I didn't have a good hold on the shotgun and my hand slipped and my thumb hit the rail. Didn't hurt much at all and certainly didn't distract me from shooting. Overall I think this setup is going to work just fine! I am pleased!

This 870 was built by Robar and had Win Chokes as Rem chokes weren't available yet. I used this until 2006 or so, notice the Pre Surefire foreend light and the custom fabricated flip up rear ghost ring. I cut down the Choate side folder around 1999 after Louis told me it was too long and the pad too small, the ugly results is still working well , but I moved on . All these 870s are 3"

the final and best IMHO is this 1992 870P with an LED turbo head Surefire foreend, back to Tritium Big bead sight inserts on factor 18" RS barrel and the wonderful 12 1/2" Hogue rubber stock. Perfection for me, snick snic snic. I have run 72 shells without stopping on Scott Reitz's "180" drill :)

I also gave this extremely accurate with slugs Bennelli Nova a chance, it does not snick snick lick an 870 because of the looong 3.5" stroke, but is light and reliable and after I had a machinist cut the stock aluminum frame down to give me a 13" LOP with a Limbsaver pad it is passable, I keep this one around for HD and critters

Very cool! Are those rubber ducks holding up the shotguns? :)

Now I am wanting a Benelli M2 tactical with a magazine tube extension and a velcro side saddle of some sort, plus a sling. Man I am on a shotgun kick lately! Once I get out west in a couple months I want to take some classes for sure!

tes the guns were photographed on my Hot Tub cover and they were rubber hot tub duckies :)

I am reccomending you find an old school Benelli M1 super 90 with the original wood type stock, they first came in under HK brand in the later 80s and then Benelli sold them up to the 2000s when they came out with the M2. While M3s are kewl and possibly M4s , the older wood stock Super 90 M1 was the bomb and until recently I had one. The manual of arms on these is different and not with out it's own problems tho.
it looks like Deptment are trading them in in very good condition. Get the 14" one, it rocks !
