I have 2 surefire lights, a C3 and a z2. Last night, I pressed the z2 into service to effect a home repair. In the midst of fumbling around for tools, I dropped it :cuss: After I managed to find it, I finished my repair, and the light promptly went dark :uhoh: The batteries were suspect, but when I put good ones in - no light. :( I checked out some places online...

Are the bulbs for these things _really_ around $20 - $25 ? :what:
Any suggestions on a good, and inexpensive source?

Thanks !

Sometimes if you send stuff back to the maker they fix it for free(or shipping)and give you extra parts........worth a try I guess.....me I use Walmart flashlights(I lose too many of them to spend $100)...

You should look into the Surefire KL3 LED lamp assembly. Yes, it is pricey, but for everyday use around the house, it is just the ticket. It is nowhere near as bright as the incadescent bulb, but you have enough usable light to do the things you need to do. Your batteries will last 4-6 hours versus 20 mins and you wont have to worry about burned out bulbs. You probably replace the batteries in your Surefires when they have approx 80% of their usable power left (the lights get noticably dimmer at this time). You could put those 80% charge batteries into the LED flashlight and still get 2-4 hours of use out of them. So despite the high initial cost, you come out ahead economically, especially since you wont have a bulb to break or burn out.

I buy all my surefire products at the Tactical Warehouse, Dan's prices are excellent and his customer service is exemplary.

The main lamp on one of our A2s at work went out after only about 2 hours of use. I emailed customer support a couple of days ago asking if this was a warranty item and if not, could they tell me how to order a new assembly. Today I got an email back from them stating that they are sending me a new lamp assembly for free. So call Surefire before you shell out bucks for a replacement.

banzaijohn is right. I would get myself a KL3 or KL5. Best part is, since it's an LED....no bulb to break if you drop it.

It depends on the LED light and how bright it is (or how bright you are expecting it to be)

I guess that if you want to run an LED from SF123As that have been used up in a SureFire such as a 6P, it would have to be something like the ArcLS or SureFire E1e+KL1. I'm not sure whether the Inova X5T (five, 5 mm LEDs) would be worth it on used SF123As.

Many LED lights have a "moon-mode" - low output after the batteries can no longer power the regulation circuits of the flashlight.

If you are seriously considering getting an LED to use up used SF123As then I suggest you visit CandlePowerForums and ask the question there. I'm sure you will get loads of replies - hopefully you can come away with a better idea of what to get!

Maybe LED...
Maybe I should have at least one LED light... Once the standard lights go dark, can the batteries (still) be used in the LED light?"

Yes, if you get a KL3 assembly, the batteries that you would normally discard from a conventional light are still useable in the LED. Typically, there is about 80% of the power capacity remaining. The conventional flashlight gets dim because of the resulting loss of voltage. The LED doesn't require as much voltage and thus could continue to run off the batteries discarded from your other surefire.

The KL3 assembly has about 19 lumens of light versus 65 or 110 depending upon the lamp in a 6P.

Thanks !

Thanks for the tips & suggestions... I just picked up some batteries, I'm down to my last 1. I'm planning on picking up at least the p60 & probably the KL3 with it.

I appreciate all the info.
