I was just going through my reloading stuff and realized I have equipment and components for cartrides that I don't reload for anymore. I have a set of RCBS dies in 270 Weatherby Magnum. I sold that gun over a decade ago. In fact, I even have 270 bullets and no gun in that caliber. I bet I have brass for it somewhere.

Does anyone else here have reloading gear that is just sitting on a shelf collecting dust? Do you end up selling it or keep it just in case you'll need it for another gun?

I used to be in the, squirrel everything away category, till I started running out of room. I, like you, kept the dies, brass and bullets for rifles I had gotten rid of. And what are the chances of me getting rifles like that again? Very slight. So I've been cleaning house.

I think they end up in the Buy/Sell/Trade Reloading Components and Gear category - http://www.thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=50

Every reloading equipment/component I have, I use. The only components collecting dust on the shelf are spare parts for current equipment/components I use.

Wait, I do have a dual spring, full-length guide rod/recoil reducer for my Glock 22 that I rarely use anymore and it's got a lot of dust ...

If you know that you will never use it again sell it or trade or give it away. The only really old things I keep are an old Redding scale and some old boxes of ammo from WWII that were given to me. The ammo is 45acp Ball that a friend gave me when he moved. Fired up a couple of the boxes and worked like new except for the smoke. The old items are collectible and most everybody that sees them asks about the story behind them. Another friend just gave me a box of old (really Old) items. Cursory look revealed some unopened #9 Bottles from Jesus's day and more old full boxes of Winchester 30-30 ammo. Kinda cool having friends that look out for you.

The unusable stuff/junk has to go....

"...keep it just in case..." Guys do that with everything. I have stuff that I haven't a clue what it is, what it's for or where I got it. You just can't get rid of stuff like that. The worst of it is all the assorted cables and connectors that come with TV's and new computers.

I have kept buckets of brass and whatnot in anticipation of possibly owning a gun in tha caliber. Its happened seveal times too. Right now I am sitting on a huge pile of 40S&W. Dont own one, dont really want too either. I wont get rid of it though, because my dad has one, and I may end up with a really good deal. I will buy anything if the price is cheap enough.
