Attention, all users of milsurp firearms, pistol or rifle: The informative website, Surplusrifle.com, a font of all forms of knowledge for cleaning, using, accurizing, reloading for, and any other considerations regarding mil-surp firearms, will be closing down as of March 30, 2007.

The site originator, Jamie Magrum, has determined that the site takes too much of his time and is not paying its way. (You've heard that one before, right?) Suggest that all milsurp users visit the site before the deadline, to (a) thank Jamie for his XLNT work, (b) download what you need before it's too late, and/or (c) buy the "collected works" CD's.

Surplusrifle.com has been a great help to a great many shooters, and we owe Jamie and his co-workers a debt of gratitude.

(Mods, if it's against policy to mention another site like this, my apologies and please delete.)

Actually, its a bit more than just taking up too much of his time. Jamie has some health problems that are consuming his time and energy.

you can get the full content of surplusrifle.com on 2 CDs. All the articles, all the manuals and everything else for $14 ($5 per CD plus $4 S&H).

Interesting.

Car Knocker--Thx for input. I thought "General" would be the appropriate place to mention it.

Crap!!!! I just added it to my favorites yesterday! Used their extremely helpful info to send off for my C&R license. Guess I've got some CD's to buy.....

Wow. What a shame, although I can completely understand the motivation. For those who have never visited, I would highly encourage you to do so, even if you haven't yet been bitten by the C&R bug (You will...it's just a matter of time!:neener: ) If you have even the slightest interest in surplus firearms, I would also encourage you to buy the CDs - I will be doing so the second my next paycheck gets here! ;)

*nods* They're good folks.

I dropped them an email asking if he'd be willing to have the site hosted by someone else (I suggested myself, as I host my current site at a great hosting facility) until his health hopefully returns.

I'd hate to see such a fantastic website go the way of the dodo, and wish there was something I could do to preserve its knowledge.

Not past tense yet!

.45 Auto--You're using the past tense prematurely--
that was a good website
--We have until 3/30/07 before Surplusrifles.com turns back into a pumpkin.

So be sure to go there before then.

IMHO, the 2 CD's (mentioned above) are a great bargain.

I had sent the same type of email a few weeks back asking for permission to host the PDF's on my site. He emailed me back right away saying a gun shop (?) owned the rights to them and they would continue to sell the CD's.

Yep,
You can NOT buy the CDs from the site now. Who knows what Tennessee Gun Parts will be asking for the information and what each article will run??? I guess I missed out. Darn. I'd loved to have had that info. in the "file"!!

Hate to see the site gone!

Bob

I didn't realize how lucky I was

I just got mine in the mail on the 22nd. (Both disks)
I must have been one of the last people to get an order in.

I'm sure whoever bought the rights will be selling them too. (For about 5 times more money)

Well, humanity benefits!

Guys--Jamie Magrum has indeed shown himself once again to be a class act all the way. As he points out, he could have sold the site and made a buncha $$, but he decided that instead he'd rather leave a legacy.

Thank You, Jamie. I'm very impressed. And also, Godspeed on yr recovery from those health issues. There is no such thing as a good time to be ailing.
