Interesting PBS video highlighting a MN high school shotgun team. I would say 80% to 90% positive, with only a minor roll given to Brady screeching and mandatory NRA bashing. Your thoughts?

Putting that kind of face is one of the keys to maintaining our political clout. And add to that getting the youth familiar with guns makes them resistant to anti-gun hysteria. It takes away some of the traditionally controversial cultural issues that have been argued to correlate with gun ownership.

It is hugely important even though, of course, it has nothing to do with the purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Trying to make shooting positive is one of the main reasons I jumped through numerous flaming hoops to get school district approval to be a volunteer coach for the AFJROTC marksmanship team.

Here in urban Ca, just about anything gun/shooting related is often frowned upon. Luckily, I live in a little slice of sanity where American flags fly and NRA caps and firearm ownership aren’t taboo.

Stay safe.

Any article or video that shows firearms in a good light is a positive.

Part of the anti-gun strategy is to portray firearm ownership and usage as aberrant behavior, and to make gun owners look irresponsible and dangerous to society.

We should warn you this video includes the sound of gunfire......
Where did we go so wrong.

When I was younger a car owner's manual would have a section on how to adjust the points. Now it just has warnings about not drinking the battery fluid.

As I watch that video I'm saddened knowing those guns will kill most of those poor, naive young children. They have no idea what the NRA is pushing them into in the name of "fun." Those guns in their homes are a danger to their entire family and others and no feel good "sporting" story funded by gun pushers will change my mind! Guns Kill! Now tell me I'm wrong I dare you!!

My point? Antis already have a set way of thinking and a set of talking points. I doubt the video will change much in their minds. It seems like face to face, one on one is the only reliable way to really bring someone into the shooting world.

"Where did we go so wrong ?" Let's see, sky high divorce rates, fatherlessness becoming the norm, schools as daycare and indoctrination centers......

MN has the largest # of High School Trap shooters, though WI is not far behind. I coached for 3 years, thinking about doing it again next year. Many of these kids do not continue past HS or college, unfortunately, but it does plant the seed in their minds that guns are the evil things that induce murderous thoughts in people's heads that many think they are, and even that alone is a win.
I love it when I can take a kid from hitting a few random birds to where they can outshoot me on a regular basis. I really love it when the get that fire in the belly 'Gotta get out and shoot, need that 25" mentality, and then persist until they do, then 50, 100, etc.

But what if it's a Tic Tok challenge? OK, or still Nah?

Wish we had Archery and shooting when I was a kid. Least my parents got me into the Junior NRA program.
Dumbing down our schools. Our educational system is way behind most if not all other industrialized countries.
Plus we used to teach trades wood shop, machine shop and auto shop. Now it's nothing, we should be teaching electronics and other things. This is why countries like China are ahead of us because they teach hands on skills you can use in factories.

Sadly, that’s where so many of the factories our parents and grandparents worked in went. 😞

It’s all about the $$

Stay safe.
