I have the chance to buy a sweet sixteen. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver and is A2408. From looking around this means it was manufactured by Remington. Is this correct? Can anyone give me more info on this? Thanks.

Yes I am aware of that but during WWII Remington manufactured them for Browning. They still said Browning on them but were made at a Remington plant.

From 1940 to 1946 production of the Auto-5 was turned over to Remington. Serial number is on the side of receiver. "ABC" for American made Version. (A=16 gauge, B-12 gauge, C=20 gauge)

From the Browning Website.

A picture would help.

Yeah I've read that but the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. I will get pics tonight.

My dad had one of those, and he LOVED that shotgun! One of my brothers has it now (I have his Rem. 700 .30-06).

The ones I have seen have been very plain compared to a Belgian Browning. Low luster (almost matte) finish. Less scroll work than the Belgians.
