From "The Hill" newspaper today:
-------------
One Democratic aide said Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) will “probably be the [deciding] vote.†The votes of the two North Dakota senators, Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad, both Democrats, are also seen as still in play.

On the Republican side, Sens. George Voinovich (Ohio), Gordon Smith (Ore.), Peter Fitzgerald (Ill.) and Richard Lugar (Ind.) are still believed to be undecided.

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), who was seen as a possible swing vote, indicated last week that he would oppose the amendments, but his office left open the possibility that he would change his mind.

Call these people tonight....1-800-648-3516....(I've been getting through 80% of the time on this number now that it is after hours). Ask to be transferred to their offices and leave a message on their voice mails.

Peter Fitzgerald is leaning towards voting against us if you can believe the papers here. He's retiring after one term but I've e-mailed and called anyway. He's always been antigun. The only thing that may sway him is the party losing.

Jeff

Jeff, how important do you think the Republican party is to Fitzgerald? They've burned a lot of bridges with him, several this year (he was mightily opposed to the "Lincoln Presidential Library" pork barrel.)

I don't know if it did any good, but I called and reminded him that the Republicans are all being watched.

Sen. Breaux, Louisiana, needs calls

I got a call from a key insider saying that Sen. John Breaux, from Louisiana, is waffling on the Gun Show amendment.

Calls to his office are needed.

A phone call is cheap ammunition

I called Senator Fitzgerald's Washington office and got through just now (7:54am Central Time)

"Geek, those were fax numbers. My ears thank you. "

HaHa a test to see who as actually calling:)

Keep on this its almost over!

If you haven't called yet do so now!

If you already called do it again!

Feingold is one of my senators. He's up for re-election this year. His opponent is a republican named Russ Darrow. So the election comes down to choosing the right Russ. Problem is that while he's a republican, I'm no fan of Darrow. So I've got a local lesser of two evils choice. I've phoned, emailed, faxed Feingold and told him this and that I will be watching his vote carefully.

FWIW, I've also contacted Kohl, but I'm not looking for any free thought\action out of that unit.

I knew Fitzgerald would sell us out. And there is nothing we can do to retaliate, he's not running for re-election.

Jeff

I called Gordon Smith R-OR, his secretary told me he hadn't decided yet. Then I read the report of his vote here.I don't have allot of faith in the party of compromise and defeat.I read that Schroomer has called for Cheny to vote.Any info on this?
