switching out Sig 226 grips?

Can I take grips of a 226 non rail 9mm gun and put them on a new sig 226 Rail .40 ? will the grips fit?


Sig forum is getting weak, I got zero help there. I now look to the highroad, before I switch them out.

Yes. Grips are the same regardless of rail or caliber.

on a side note for anyone that cares, I did the switch out and found that the 9mm grips were a bit slimmer.

as long as both pistols have the "new" mainspring, you're find.

the railed pistols all have the longer plastic mainspring seat. grips from an older pistol, with the sheet metal seat, will need plastic removed to accomadate the longer seat

how can I tell, the non rail gun is around 2002/2003, the .40 rail is brand new. thanks

you take off the grips and look...if you see a long plastic piece retaining the mainspring, that's the newer one
