Swivel Breech Rifle

At first, I thought he was using a Leonard Day action, but I see it is David's own. Mr Day's actions have a trigger-release in front of the trigger to allow the barrels to rotate. I have a Rifle /Shotgun Swivel-breech, .54 cal/12 ga. for sale.

Excellent work by Mr Price, beautiful carving. I heard Mike Yazel was taken to "scratchin' metal surfaces", but this is the first time I have seen his engraving, outstanding.

In addition to his superb engraving, Mike is a NMLRA pistol "Distinguished Master", has won the National Muzzel Loading Pistol Championship many times, holds numerous national records in muzzle loading pistol, and former President of the NMLRA.

Your swivel barrel rifle makes my .54 cal./12ga plain-jane look like a fencepost.

It would be a crime to get that dirty but also a crime not to shoot it.
Truly a magnificent work of art.

When I fantasize what I would have carried in the period that is it. Yours is the most beautiful example I have ever seen, Kudos!

It's amazing that it only weighs 8 1/2 lbs. with 2 barrels.

If I got one, it would have to be ugly so I wouldn't be afraid to shoot it. ;)

That is fat cow doin's and that's plumb center.

A classic beauty for sure.

BCRider.

David price built and sold me the basic rifle (no carving, no engraving, fair amount of wood work to be done, some metal work finishing to be done).

I contracted out:
some of the carving - Mike Fisher
all of the engraving - Mike Yazel

And I did the finish work:
some more carving and cleanup
lots of bare wood finishing
staining
finishing

Absolutely outstanding. I have lusted after one of those for many years, ever since I saw the kits David was selling years ago on ALR forum. WOW..just WOW! ( Didn't mean for that to sound like David Price was seelling kits on ALR. It was being discussed and as I recall, a picture of a finished rifle was shown)

In that case a hearty WELL DONE! to the whole lot of you.

The nice thing is that it all comes together so well as if it was one person's vision carried out with a nice sense of balance. I know that you obviously had lots of control. But once sent out to the specialist crafters what you get back is seldom going to be just what you expected. So to see what I consider to be a nicely coordinated balance between the wood carving and metal engraving is a nice bonus.

So now to the $64 question.... How's it shoot?
