Greetings:

SWMBO and I took her new Springfield Micro out to the indoor range today. As expected, she did remarkably well with it, given that her hands and arms were bothering her (fibromyalgia). She was keeping everything inside a 10 inch circle quite handily at 7 yards, which was great, given that it's (a.) a new pistol, (b.) her pain level, (c.) she's used to a DAO 9mm subcompact and (d.) she had a failure to extract with over half her mag loads. She was using WWB 230gr. loads, but to my observations, while her technique and grip need a little tuning, she wasn't limp-wristing. I ran 3 mags through it myself and didn't have any problems. It was easy enough to keep them inside the 10-ring on a B27 at 7 yards, even with my eyes being what they are these days. Maybe I'll have my smith look at the extractor, as her FTE's were leaving an empty case inside the chamber without budging it. The rim of each case has an obvious rough spot on it where the extractor passed over it.

On a side note, I need to teach her about failure drills now.

To the Micro's credit, it's got me thinking about getting one for myself now...a little...maybe. on the other hand, maybe I'll start carrying the P220 a little more than the P229. :D

Regards,
Rabbit.
