I have a marlin 70 Papoose, its a take down rifle. As most of you know the barrel is removable.
I would like to some how engineer a folding stock or a quick release metal bar stock (similar to steel bars that retract up along the side of tactical ruger 10/22 or even the AK-47- fore give the ignorance as i dont know their correct name).

The problem i have is that the synthetic stock and as you as know its a hollow molding. I cant seem to figure out whereabout I'll find sound purchase any attachment that might work.

I feel that the only solution would be to source some Fiber Glass Resin and to fill the whole stock at the proposed location of the joint so as to provide a sturdy background material.
This will seriously affect the weight of the light papoose which is sold at 3.25 Lbs.

Due to the tapered nature of the internal section of the stock, (as required by the molding process for the easy extraction of any former) i would also probably have to drill several rivets from left to right in an effort to stop any filler material form working loose. Alternatively i could roughen the surface in an attempt to receive a good quality self bounding material.

Also if i I'm forced to fill a section of the remaining butt i would like to use the strongest lightest material possible! Can any one make any suggestion as to a suitable filler material

Has any one here ever had any experience of dealing with such a project and if you had any success could you please advise. Thanks

I am doing this work so i might be able to fit the rifle in a day bag.

I am not concerned with U.S. law on this subject as the gun will not be used in the U.S.:neener:

What the point in showing me threads that i have already read!!
Really rcmodel i need a bit of help here- please

What is bondo??

Bondo is automotive body filler used in the repair of dented sheet metal. Bondo is a brand name that came to be the common name for all body fillers like Kleenex did for facial tissue.
