I wanted a woods walking light rifle for shots up to 150 yards and found a in new condition 21" TC carbine barrel in 7x30 waters and just installed it on my TC frame with a 2.5x compact leupold scope with dual dovetail mounts&rings. it will have to wait a while to get sighted in, just to busy right now. eastbank.

Very nice. I bought a spare contender frame this summer and just ordered a nice high grade walnut stock set for it. I'm planning on getting a small 22 caliber centerfire barrel and a 30-30 AI barrel for it. I've also considered the 7-30 waters as well.

I had a 25-20 win barrel on the frame, but think it,s a little light for deer. I plan on trying the 120 nosler BT at 2400-2500 fps. eastbank.

Thats a sweet little rifle! Im in the process (as in sometime this decade) of building something similar.
I have a 7-30 super 14 already, and it will hit 2400 with 120s no problem. Id expect the longer barrel to better that by quite a bit.
The animals ive hit with the gun are all on the small side but performance of those bullets has been excellent.

Be aware that with the scope sitting back that far on the rifle, I MAY be an eye closer.
I know this from experience years ago.

7-30 is an awesome caliber. :)
that will answer a bit more than a 150 yard request with that 21in bbl.
I always had awesome luck with AA2520 and RL15.

i had that 2.5 leupold on a ruger #3 in 45-70 and had no problems shooting heavy loads with the eye relief, but its some thing I will look out for. eastbank.

My favorite load in my 14" Contender 7-30 uses Rl-15 and Nosler 120 gr. Ballistic Tips. Works great on deer, hogs and coyotes.
