Greetings,
I recently picked up a T/C Contender, which is rather odd compared to most of them that I've seen. It has the full cougar, not just the cat face, which seems normal, but on the hammer there is no rimfire/centerfire switch like on most T/Cs, but rather a tiny flathead screw on the hammerface which can be turned to engage one firing pin or the other. The serial is 64XX.
Is this, perchance, some relatively desirable or uncommon early variant, or would it be less valuable because you have to fiddle with a tool to change cartridges?
It came with an octagonal barrel (good) in .45/410 (bad), as wel as some very interesting old T/C furniture, the grip of which has an engraved ornamental place at the buttcap saying "Sawtelle".
Any idea what all of this means? I can take a pic if that'd help. I used to have a 1980s Contender, but know very little about the earlier ones.
