Hello All,
I apologize if this question has been asked before but my quick search didn't turn up anything.
I will be returning from deployment to Iraq here in the next two months and after being settled in to my apartment with the wife, want to get in to some competitive shooting in the Tacoma/Fort Lewis area. I prefer IPSC, as I have shot in that before and like the race gun style of shooting as it is fun, competitive, and focuses on movement, speed, accuracy, and reloads quite well in my limited opinion. I wouldn't mind trying out some IDPA as well, but thats on the back burner until I get settled in and get to training a lot more often.
My father in law is in Bellevue and does IPSC up that way, but I was wondering if there are ranges/clubs that I could join more in the Tacoma or Olympia area. I know the range on Fort Lewis can be used, but I don't think its authorized for IPSC style shooting.
For reference I will be using a Gen 2 Glock 22 for competition, and carry a Gen 3 Glock 23 for SD/Carry. I am almost positive I can use the G22 in Production in IPSC but would like to upgrade to the G35 at some point. Would that still be allowed for use in Production? A Lone Wolf barrel (for reloads) wouldn't affect it (the 35 or 22), would it? What about a grip reduction for the 22?
I appreciate any and all help. With all the changes happening when I get home I might not be able to start shooting competitively for a month or two, but once I do, I want to hone my skills. My goal is to make it on to the US Army Marksmanship Unit, but I want to grow my skills at the very least.
Take care.
