The annual Polite Society/Rangemaster Tactical Conference started out at Rangemaster and was conducted there its first eight or nine years. Seeking more room, we held this event at the Memphis Police Academy a couple of years, and the last few years at the fabulous facilities of the United States Shooting Academy in Tulsa, OK. For 2012, we are returning to our roots, and will be conducting this event at Rangemaster, in Memphis.

Until the last few years, we held this event in February, so students would have a training opportunity in the Winter, taking advantage of our heated indoor range and classrooms. We are going back to that, with a date of 24-26 February 2012, Friday through Sunday. We will make use of the indoor range’s ability to control the lighting, and scenarios will be in low light conditions. We have added some finished space upstairs, so we now have more room for training. By making this a three day event, participants can attend a variety of training segments.

Some of the best trainers in the United States will be offering training blocks throughout this event. Participants may attend as many of these training blocks as time allows, on a space available basis. By making this a three-day event for 2012, participants will be able to attend even more training segments than in past years. The trainers for 2012 include: Tom Givens, John Farnam, Southnarc, Claude Werner, Jim Higginbotham, William Aprill, Paul Gomez, John Hearne, Dr. Martin Topper, Steve Moses, Skip Gochenour, Glenn Meyer, Karl Rehn, and several others. Training segments will be a mixture of classroom lectures; hands-on training in the mat room for hand to hand skills; and airsoft simulations.

Entry will be strictly limited to 100 participants. Register early to avoid disappointment. This event will fill well in advance. Cost is only $249.00, which includes match entry, all training segments, and a prize drawing. Contact [email protected] for a registration packet. Don’t delay!

Got notification our registrations had been received - anyone else here going to make this event?

Damn...wish I could have made it, but when Tom announced the revised dates, I was already locked in elsewhere...:banghead:

A great seminar, not to be missed...

Would have been good to see you again, Mas - sorry to hear you can't make it. Been a long time since the Snubby Summit.

Glenn, looking forward to meeting you. My wife is a retired prof (UNC-Pembroke, Criminology) and is beginning to get really excited about getting to Memphis. And of course yours truly is also a bookish sort :D.

I can't make it this year but I am retiring from the courts in April and look forward to coming in 2013.
Hopefully it will be the same time of year and in Memphis.
Question--since flying with guns out of NYC can be a pain does your range rent guns for such events?

Matthew,

Probably you should email or call Tom at Rangemaster with your question, he doesn't get by here on a frequent basis.

Matt,

You'll be among friends. We'll get you squared away.

Tom's Polite Society Tactical Conference is my favorite annual event. Last year, work commitments forced me to miss it for the first time in years.

If you haven't made one, you need to. I think some people purposely don't talk about it all over the place so they can keep it their little secret.

I definitely agree. Wish everyone here at ST&T could have made it... it's been outstanding and I anticipate more of the same tomorrow (well, outstanding except for my performance in the match, that is...).

Awesome - great and informative seminars. Match was great as an ability test, even though one of my guns decided after years of stalwart service to get cranky in a stage. Why carry a bug - this is why!!

The presentations blow away the smoke from much of the ill-informed internet blather about guns, tactics, What Would you do? Etc.

Great to see Lee, Paul, Ken, etc.!

Did you have to say - OLD - Ken, trying to forget that!

Trying to remember the 50's - mine that is! :D

Sat on the couch, with a crowd of old guys with white beards!

OK how 'bout long-time? Make you feel better? Besides, you're only as old as you feel.

I had a good time seeing people I don't often get to see anymore. And the only excitement I had during the match was seeing the Staff react to my hot 38 Supers.

Other than that, I took it pretty easy myself.

Old guy - check

White beard - check

Sitting on couch - check

Sounds like Dr. M is talking about me, too ... :D

That was you and some other dude, I don't recall. Among others!

On Feb 24-26, 2012, we conducted the 14th annual Tactical Conference at Rangemaster. We had 135 attendees from literally all over the US, from as far away as Washington state, Florida, New York, and all points in between. The Polite Society match was shot by 109 participants, including 8 ladies and 15 lawmen. The match used reactive targets that look just like real people and only fall to upper center chest hits, and the entire match was shot in low light. The lighting was about the same as a typical parking lot at night, for added realism. There was a full size mock-up car for cover in one scenario. Another had hallways and doorways that had to be negotiated while looking for hostile targets and avoiding shooting non-hostiles. Good stuff!

Overall Champion was John Richardson, High Lady went to Anita Hopkins, and John Hearne took the High Lawman award. In addition, there were classes going on all weekend, in three separate training areas, featuring 19 well known trainers. Trainers included John Farnam, Claude Werner, Paul Gomez, Dr. Martin Topper, Southnarc, Dr. Glenn Meyer, Karl Rehn, Steve Moses, Rob Pincus, Skip Gochenour, Jim Higginbotham, Chuck Haggard, Spencer Keepers, William Aprill, John Hearne, Gary Greco, Leslie Buck, Doc K (active duty SF medic) and Tom Givens. Classes were going on concurrently in three separate classrooms. Over the course of three days, participants were able to attend a number of the course offerings.

Next year’s event is scheduled for 1-3 March 2013, at Rangemaster, in Memphis. Don’t miss this premiere training event.

Many thanks to Tom, Lynn, the Rangemaster staff, and the many trainers who made this event an incredible venue. I'm glad to hear next year's conference will be in Memphis again, and my wife and I will do our best to be there.
