Tactical footwear

One can learn a lot from "girls" and the "strategy and tactics" they employ, to stay safe, and in having to deal with a threat.
Would you mind elaborating on this?

Also, I almost didn't understand "Tack-Tickle".

Boys may find themselves in a situation where they don't have their "tack-tickle" pants, shirts, footwear, holster, gun, knife, and whatever else they have to have, to be "tack-tickle" according to the current context, and "innernet".

So true.....but, as long as I'm wearing my "tack-tickle" underpants, I'm ready for anything... :D

Seriously, I haven't found a situation that I couldn't handle wearing my New Balance walking shoes...including the workplace and outdoors. Simple and comfortable works....

...and flip-flops belong on the beach or in the public showers...not in polite society....

Flip flops are for the beach and dirty showers only.
You have signed-up to be useless if you tromp around the rest of the world in flip-flops.

Great post!

Shopping A Round,

They deal is, evil likes easier prey. Always has, and always will.

1. By nature, females are often a choice of prey for evil.
2. While dress codes/modes have changed over the years, females are often still limited in attire they can wear.

Another deal is, Murphy's Law. Stuff is going to happen at the wrong time.

i.e Tires will go flat, and need changing, when one is in a hurry and wearing nice clothes, and footwear as opposed to having the day off and wearing "frumpy" clothes or clothes and footwear they don't mind getting messed up.

Think out of the box.

Females will often have a extra pair of shoes to wear, instead of the nice heels or other footwear for say formal attire [Evening dress] when driving or being driven to a formal event.

Males don't. They instead get caught in the rain, or mud in nice footwear, changing the flat tire.

Note also, it is a bit more difficult to conceal a firearm, in a little black dress, or elegant evening gown.

Now me and mine did "set-ups and lessons" (stages and training) in various clothing and shoes, to replicate what "had" happened to our kind, and to replicate what "might" happen.

My lady partner and I for instance.
She in a little black dress and those shoes, and little bitty purse.
She carried a Beretta Jetfire,in that purse, and I had an extra sidearm, for her, concealed.
I was dressed up nice as well, with leather soled shoes.

We had to deal with slick, polished hardwood , tiled, and marble floors, including steps and stairways.

Sure, there are much better footwear to deal with all this, still we had to blend in with settings.

Software not hardware.

One of the things I like about Bullfrogken's group, is one has to choose equipment and stick with it, through out.

Meaning, whatever you start with, you continue through the whole deal.
None of this "getting ready for each stage" business.

My lady partner was not the only lady, that could kick off a shoe, and use it for a weapon if need, but also kick off shoes to evade, get off the "x", or...be quiet in evading a situation.
Dress shoes make noise...stocking feet, or bare feet, less so.

as long as you have shoes that will actually stay on, you should be fine. They don't need to be tactical and you shouldn't need to put TOO much thought into choosing something. Just watch Die Hard and you'll see what I mean.

You can pry my flip flops from my cold, dead feet!!!!!!!

Go slip resistant, too. I'm in or around the water during the summer quite often, so slip resistant is a prerequisite due to my innate clumsiness.

That being said, I hate shoes period. The great thing about summer is wearing flip flops. There are some great ones out there that stay on really well, wear just as good as athletic shoes and cost a pretty penny. I've got a few pair that I can run in with no problem, no matter if I'm on pavement, dirt, a wet boat deck or dock or sand and mud. Quality flops are like quality shoes...good luck finding any under $50 msrp.

1. I HATE sandals. Haven't worn them since I stepped in dog crap in them in my aunt's backyard in Detroit somewhere around 1965.

2. I NEVER wear flipflops farther from the house than the dumpster when taking out the garbage.

3. Other than when in a suit or hunting, the only shoes I wear are black coach's shoes. They're comfortable, durable, agile, and don't attract attention.

I recall reading one of the James Bond books (the real ones, by Ian Fleming), and as Bond was picking out his wardrobe for an assignment, he selected a pair of steel-toed shoes (dress black, I assume).

predict being in any type of scuffle in flip flops or sandals would severely limit my abilities to stay on my feet and be agile.
Agreed. You also may have to run over broken glass and other debris as well as be limited in your ability to kick (if it comes to that). A big reason why I only wear sturdy, lace-up shoes. (There is another reason, but that would be TMI. :uhoh:)

Reason why I carry my CCW FLASHBANG and SMOKE GRENADES when I wear flip flops out.

That will give you the distraction you need to get some distance and reassess the threat.

hey bushmaster you forgot about the spurs to go on the cowboy boots ;) those suckers can cut you if you were to file them down sharp :)

While good boots (Danners and Bates) make my feet happy so do my Chacos. Have you trained in your sandles? I did a three gun match in my Chacos once just to try it. Didn't someone once say "Train as you live?"

Lots of soldiers over here in Trashganistan are running their PT in the vibram five fingers. All the ones I've talked to say they run faster in them than in regular running shoes. The fastest runners in the world, the Kenyans, run barefoot. So needing a certain kind of shoe to have an advantage in a "tactical" situation is a load of crapola. The mindset in a fight is the key element, and whatever is on your feet doesn't matter.

Doc Martin Steel Toed Boots are a nice compromise between comfort and safety and somewhat of a weapon.
I wear boots 8 hours a day on hot asphalt, and I have for 30 years.
I have had numerous broken toes, toe nails have fallen off from working in cement, one toe has the bone fused at the joint (2nd toe right foot), One toe was crushed by a falling Tank Track Block (big toe left foot, now that nail is gone forever) These old Dogs Hurt.
Doc Martins keep them working though.

The human body is designed to function while barefoot. Most footwear actually impedes mobility. The vast majority of us have spent most of our lives with shod feet, and as such our feet are soft & tender, and it hurts for us to walk on, say, course gravel or rock with bare feet. To someone who has spent years walking only barefoot (and have developed substantial calluses), however, such problems do not exist.

Selection of footwear is important for those who wear shoes and have tender feet. But someone who is used to walking and running barefoot, certainly is at no disadvantage from wearing flip flops, because said person can simply kick them off and be arguably more mobile than someone with sturdy combat boots.

In other words, sturdy footwear will never give you an advantage, but poor footwear can give you a disadvantage.

I'm a big fan of indoor soccer shoes. Very comfortable & light with enough grip & padding for a good run, but not heavy or easy to come off unless you untie them.

Your feet are your way out, provide a stable (or not) platform & can be pretty easily injured. While some might cringe at the word "tactical" that doesn't mean the general considerations of the OP are invalid or silly.

And I have a pair of "shoes" like this that I tried out to run in, but I tend to get too many stares:

I run about 20 miles a week in Vibrams and swear by them. Personally I'd rather let the fattie couch potato folks laugh at my feet instead of having knee surgery in a few years. Also, Vibrams have completely eliminated my plantar fasciitis. Screw the $200 running shoes...I am the technology on my runs.

Did not read all the posts due to time restrictions right now so I hope this is not a repeat.

I wear New Balance tennis shoes as they provide great support and are great at absorbing heel shock that are transmitted up the back. I'm sure most tennis shoes do but I buy new balance as they are U.S.A. owned and the owner wants to go full usa on his manufacturing. I support that everytime I see that attitude from a CEO.

The cost is the same but most often lower than all the other big names.
Here is a plug for an internet source I get all my NB shoes and no I don't work for them I just send them money and they send me shoes. Shipping is free and there are coupon codes on the net if you look for even more off. They sell extra wide also as in winter I wear my extra thick wool socks.

ONLY New Balance!
Costs are fantastic when they have the 80% off sales.

I will go back and read this whole thread when I have time tonight as I need a good pair of rubber soled boots.
