Are there any tactical style pants without the strap above the right rear pocket?

That strap is pretty much only on 5.11 pants, though both use a strange pocket configuration.

I personally prefer Woolrich pants since it has magazine pockets on both sides.

Tactical pants? Whats next, tacticool underwear? Just call em cargo pants with mag shaped pockets.

Since I'm in the desert with people shooting at me cna I still call them tactical? Just kidding I call them pants. I love my 5.11 pants and will still wear them when I get back to the civilized world strap or not. I really like the reinforced pocket corners for carrying a clip style knife. (Notice I didn't say tactical folder) Wouldn't trade the 5.11's for any other brand.

Well we would have to call them cargo pants with mag shaped pockets, slash pockets, knee pad holder, and with holster retention strap. Not only that but most of the "tactical" style pants are made with heavier materials.

I swear this anti-mall ninja stuff is almost as bad as PC stuff I have to deal with in the real world. People call them tactical when you are looking for pants of a particular style, tactical pants are of a certain style, compared to say concealed carry pants, dress pants, or other options.

I call then pants and shorts, but I love then since I can easily put my starter/spare magazine for competitions and such in the mag pockets, and they are very durable.

Also since they are made for duty use I can choose between a lighter pants and heavier, while still keep that durability great for those of us in warmer climates, where we rarely need heavy pants.

Then again I mostly only use tactical pants for range wear. And I only call them tactical pants when I am order them.

Thanks for stating the obvious & your fine sense of humor.

Woolrich Elite pants are worth serious consideration, especially the hot weather version in ripstop. It is cooler to wear than most. A nice touch is separate compartments secured by velcro in the rear pockets. They allow a wallet to be segregated from other stuff. Also nice is a magazine/radio/whatever pocket on the front of each leg.

Unfortunately the side pockets are angled in a way that makes them difficult to access for me and aren't sufficiently roomy. Workmanship doesn't seem as good as on the Royal Robbins/5.11 pants either, but not awful.

The shorts are cut down versions of the pants and comfortable in hot weather.
