Hi Guy's, as the title say I'm taking a contract job in West Jordan, Utah. I'll be bringing my Drahtharr with me and living out of my camp trailer with him. Job seems to be Mon-Fri. and off on weekends. Looking for suggestions of what to do on the weekends.... First there is my dog and his training to consider, then Fishing/Hunting/Camping and just being out of doors. Want to take my dog to the Armbruster this year so his training is to come first. Just looking for options and checking here first. Thanks

Utah has tons to do in the camping/fishing/hunting arenas. Lots of National Parks and wilderness areas to get yourself lost in, a wide variety of environments from alpine to desert.

When you are going will determine what you can hunt, but there are places to work your dog just about everywhere, and there are rivers to fly fish trout, and lakes to do other kinds of trout fishing. Coyotes are in season year round, bird seasons are there, too. Probably too late in the year to put in for any of the big game draws, but there are usually leftover tags for something, or archery deer, if you'll have time for that kind of thing.

I haven't lived in Utah in, oh, eight years or so, but I go back whenever I can due to family things.

You should have some fun, for sure!

Bring your Draht and your boots.

Living in the Salt Lake valley you will be within 30-45 minutes of world-class fly fishing on the Provo River and others. You will be within 15 minutes of national forest wilderness and state lands for hiking, biking, hunting, fishing and camping. 30 minutes west you will find the West Desert, mostly BLM land. Want to shoot long range? Head west.

In SL county is the DNR's Lee Kay center with big-bore rifle range, 50-yd range, shotgun and archery ranges, AND a dog training yard.

National parks and national recreation areas abound.

PM me when you get to town.

Might want to look into residency qualifications. You're probably already too late to qualify for resident licenses this fall.
