Taking People Shooting And Firearm Sales

That's the reason they have to make it law. Because too many people agree.
The only possible reason to care about 1&2 is in how those might affect No. 3.

There is no value in (attempting) denying anyone anything, (I mean, we're not just statist busybodies, right?) unless that denial effectively prevents violent crime.

If this felon is such a dangerous person that we feel like we have to do background checks on every gun sale, including private, to keep a gun out of their hands, then maybe we should further regulate the felon instead of the guns.

We would be, a non-prohibited person would pass those background checks.

We trust criminals not to repeat their acts every day. We trust the DUI offender not to drive on a suspended or revoked driver's license. We trust the sex offender to not go within whatever distance of a school or playground. We trust the people with restraining orders against them to not violate those restraining orders. We trust parolees and those on probation to not violate the conditions of parole or probation. Heck we even re-elect some criminals back into public office...

So why is there such a big deal over certain objects, to wit, guns?

No we don't. We create lots of processes to monitor and prevent them.

We can argue this all day but won't agree. As that famous anchorman once said, I think it's time to agree to disagree.

If somebody is so dangerous that we can't trust him(or her) with a gun, why do we let that person out of jail at all?

For me it's pretty simple, and understandably not so simple for other's.
First off, I don't go shooting with anyone I'm not very familar with. I've had one too many incidents shooting with someone I've never seen handle guns, so I don't engage that risk.
And regarding the sale of a firearm to someone I'm not familar with is still simplistic for me. I have a written statement in the form of a bill of sale I use. It states that I am selling this firearm seial number xxx to Bob Smith who is indicating he is legal to purchase and pocess firearms. Done deal!
