Springfield operator or Kimber CDP? Springfield vs Kimber in general...I know I know huge can-o-warms for this early.

I know three people with Kimbers and they have had good luck and are very satisfied with them, no problems, go bang every time.

I've only had a chance to shoot one Springfield and that was years ago, a plain jane, GI type and had no problems with it during several sessions.

To me, the answer to your question is a coin toss. Both should be good and serve you well, pick the one that seems to be the best in your eyes.

I picked up a SA MC Operator and am enjoying it immensely. Accurate and reliable with my handloads. Haven't shot factory ammo through it though.

I'm liking my new Kimber Ultra CDP. The trigger is like butter. Man, I can't believe the difference between this Kimber and the triggers on the XD and plastic guns I've had...I'm in lllooovvveee!

I would assume you have done your research on the various makes of 1911 style pistols. You should get which ever one you like the look and feel of the most. And you should also take a look of the Colt XSE line of 1911s.

gonna have to say Springfield, because i don't care for the Swartz safety in the Kimber's.

here's my Springfield family.

I own one of the early Kimbers and it has been a great pistol.

That said, if I were buying a 1911 today, I would get another Dan Wesson.

I don't like Kimber... has nothing to do with the Swartz safety or MIM. its more of the QC. Ive had a few, giving them the benefit of the doubt. They just don't mesh with me i guess.

also from listening to a podcast interview, the 1911 smith was asked what would be his preference for a base gun to build on. his response was either Colt (of course) or Springfield because (in his experience/opinion) the metal used for the slides and frames were harder than other's.

The one Kimber I bought was a Jam-O- Matic...I sold it the next week and bought a used Colt OACP. Put all new Wolff Springs including the Magazine springs. I use Chip McCormick mags with 11# Wolf springs and skirted followers and the pistol goes bang every time...Kimbers are Overrated as far as I'm concerned...!!!

Had a Custom TLE II from Kimber follow me home...just went in looking...but liked it alot.
