Well dropped off the Rock Island .45 with the gunsmith this afternoon. Need some sights for old eyes, a trigger job and a few other odds and ends. Going to dress it all up with the hopes of a more pleasent shooting experience. Six pounds for a trigger pull is a bit much for me.

I have a buddy that bought a RIA 1911 not too long ago as a beater gun. You know, after 400 or so rounds, that gun is tight, accurate and reliable. In short, a nice gun and a really good value.

I like mine. I bought a Compact and had mucho problems with the recoil system, (double spring, outer loose/inner captive) could have had something to do with putting outer spring on backwards. Cure with Ed Brown Officer's guide rod and spring, $35 from Brownell's.

I've been thinking about buying one of these. The only major complaint I've heard about them are the sights. Just wondering, about how much to have them swapped out for something better?

Mooseman you could just buy a Charles Daly , or one of the pistols with the Armscor name stamped on them , they come with Novak style sights and have been for a few years now .

Here are some examples that are for sale on Gunbroker .
