If you have an idea of a gun or caliber you think Ruger should add to the line, or maybe one you wish they would bring back, you can talk directly to the new president of Ruger this Sunday. Steve Sanetti was just named president and chief operating officer of Sturm, Ruger. He has been the corporate counsel for years, but his real love is guns. Steve was on the rifle team at VMI, has served in the military, is an avid shooter and hunter, and has even "butchered" a few rifles (his words) as an amateur gunsmith.

Steve wants to hear from shooters. He wants to know what you would like to see from Ruger.

He will be the guest on "Tom Gresham's Gun Talk" radio show this Sunday, May 19, at 3:10pm Eastern time.

If you don't get Gun Talk on your local station, you can listen live on the web, starting at www.guntalk.com and click on LISTEN (that link is up only on Sundays).

Also, if you have Sirius satellite radio, they carry Gun Talk live on channel 144. That signal is available all over the country.

Till then, though, good working 10-rounders for the mini-14's & mini-30's would be a real blessing
 
Heck, call and tell Steve that's what you want.

Ted Nugent is scheduled to call in during the first hour.

Last (3rd) hour, the guest will be a friend who is an expert at survival. We'll talk about flashlights, knives, fire starters, signaling stuff, and he'll explain that he doesn't view the guy who cut his arm off as a hero, but rather someone who cheated Darwin. Heck, the guy didn't even have a sharp knife!

I'm sure the new Ruger pres is a neat guy, and Ted Nugent is kewl, but for the real deal on survival info, Doug Ritter is da man. Very knowledgable, no bs, tell it like it is kinda guy, who has tested[used] every piece of gear under the sun. If you are "into" survival and gear, Doug is Da Man.

Tom, I'll be giving a shotgun clinic on Sunday, but do tell Doug I said hello.....

-Tell him to make 4" Redhawks!

A .45ACP Ruger revolver would just be great, too. Preferably, smaller than a Redhawk (the Redhawk frame is a little big for a .45ACP), but I'm pretty sure it'd have to be bigger than a GP100.

And, of course: 10mm P90!
 
Agree with the idea of manufacturing and selling new standard-capacity magazines after (if) the AWB dies.

If you get a chance, you might ask Ritter what he thinks about the firepiston concept for survival.
 
Compact!

If someone manages to get through on the show, tell them to build a concealable compact 9mm!!!

With so many states passing CCW laws, a sizable market is there and growing. With founder Bill Ruger gone, maybe they'll be more open to this now.
 
Tell him to restart making the old tang-safety Model 77 using the old labor-intensive processes.

A trapdoor Springfield design in .243 might be nice.

A Medi (not mini nor maxi but in the middle) 14 in, you guessed it, .243.


How about a heavy barrel Mini-14 with a trigger assembly which isn't made of old coathangers and Bondo?
 
How about reducing the usual 2 years between the time a new gun appears in the catalog and the time it appears on dealers' shelves.

Name one? I can't; I can only name three. The Ranch Rifle, the P-85, and now the Gold Label.

Actually, what's needed is for Ruger to finally admit they sell personal defense weapons and design critters accordingly, esp. for the CCW market. Lopping the hammers off a couple of SP101s was a tiny, pathetic little start but they've got a long ways to go.
 
I second what USGuns and TechBrute said. It's about time Ruger makes a true compact pistol. The barrel length of the P93/95/97 is shorter than the others but the grip is typical full size.

Ruger makes four(4) 9mm pistols, P89/93/94/95, but there's really not much difference in size. Also, I'd love they bring a .357SIG to the table ... :)

Tom: I went to your web site trying to see if any of my local stations carry your show. All I could find was that your page says over 80 radio stations carrying Gun Talk, but there's no list posted on your site.
 
I won't be able to listen this week, but here is a list of item's Ruger needs to act upon IMHO.

* 10/22 Good high cap mags. Butler Creek and others made some but they had plastic feeding points. Screw that! Ruger makes an excellent 10rd rotary but needs to expand that to at least 25 for their great .22. This is once the AWB sunsets of coarse. The demand will be high and don't lose the business to aftermarket guys. I like the factory mags, but they need to be bigger.

* Improve the factory trigger on the 10/22 and the mag release!

* Make a 4" Super Redhawk! And put REAL triggers on the revolvers! Like *&*!

* Above all else, TRIGGERS.
 
According to my discussions with Ruger folks at the SHOT Show, their 'pro-sportsman' and 'anti-self-defense' attitude did not die with their founder. NO 10 round Mini-14 or Mini-30 mags, no 20 rounders when the AWB dies next year either. Old man Bill tried to get the govt to cover his ??? for him when Glock came to this country when he wrote that letter to congress. He was even smart enough to ask Neal Knox if he should send the letter, to bad he was too stupid to listen. The last new Ruger I bought was in 1987 and that won't change until the company changes its' political climate. I don't shot blackpowder, I don't hunt, and I don't shoot machineguns, but I will actively support anyone who desires to do so. Too bad Ruger can't say the same. They are SUPPOSE to be one of us. Spend your money elsewhere.

OK Tom of all weeks this is probably the week I will be tuning in on the 3rd hour. It looks like you have 2 good guests lined up for this week, let's hope the wind has died down. (If any of you are wondering what that means the wind knocked Tom's show off the air for about 20 minutes last week) I am going to try hard to tune in for the second hour. If I get around to it I may call in. I like the idea of a 9mm SP101 along with a compact 9mm semi auto. For all that don't know during the show hours Tom has a chat room up and running.

I'll be there. You know, several folks expressed interest in a Deerfield style simi-auto carbine with a ten round magazine. A slightly more heavy weight barrel might be nice to. If I can't get through, please extend my thanks to him for helping Cowboy Action Shooting grow. The Vaquero is great fun, and the wide range of calibers is very appreciated. Have fun.
 
All of the 44Mag carbines (bolt/lever/semi) take the same magazines. A 10-rounder would be great. Somebody posted an English gun-shop ad that actually *listed* one, probably made there - the Ruger 44 levergun is being pressed into "combat rifle duty" in several areas where almost nothing else is legal.

It had to be aftermarket - I've been unable to locate any stateside :rolleyes:.
