I met and talked with a Federal Flight Deck Officer last night. He is the first one I've seen/met and he just happens to work for the same company as I do.

He told me that overall the training is top notch, the process of getting through the system is not too difficult, and all the instructors he talked with are pro-FFDO.

He did give me some specifics to the operation which maybe he shouldn't have given me, so I won't go into too much detail.

Some highlights:

In the time period he had for firarms training he was allowed to shoot as much as he wanted. He said the course starts out assuming that none of the applicants has ever fired a gun before, but it ends with all being very proficient.

Other parts of the course were also well taught.

Out of his class, the only people who didn't finish are those that were medically washed out.

That's about all I'm willing to say on the matter. I don't want uncle TIA to give me a spanking.

He also said that the program is expanding now that most of the bugs have been sorted out.
