Thanks for the comments on the review Daniel, glad you liked it.
I use the karambit folder in RFP [ strong side ], and it is accessed in sabre grip and opened manually as I can't get it to "pop" like most of the folders due to the stiffness in opening the blade. It isn't a problem manually at all but it refuses "popping" so I live with it, no big deal really as I can still access it quickly enough [ as reported ].
I can only say that I will be using this in a small slashing motion where the tip will sink into the target as a stab first and then continue with giving the opponent an ugly zipper untril I retract it from the body [ that would of course be an offensive move ].
In defensive mode only, I will probably use the inner edge of the blade to hook an offending limb coming into my inner circle and redirect the limb [ control to a certain degree ] away from myself. As the blade is curved it will have a tendancy to "keep" the arm, wrist moving in the direction you want unlike a straight knife where the limb could roll off the blade.
I have only received the first of the Tarani Karambit videos and the other two in the series are entroute as I write this from Sandy [ who I spoke to this morning ]. As to how I use it, I presently do not use it as a karambit but as a regualr knife adjusting the movements of offense/defense slightly to adjust for the curved blade.
I do use the aluminum trainer from Steve Tarani in the proper techniques but as of yet, I need more practice , actually many hours on the knife before I actually start moving a sharpened claw around my wrists.
Prudence is dictated here or ther are going to be nerves and tendons screaming all the way to the hospital.
