Target Loads for a Gold Cup

Long time reader first time poster. 4.7 grns of wst under a 200 Swc makes a great medium target load. For a really light load 3.8 grns of 700-x under a 200 Swc. But will reliably function a 16 pound spring with a clean burn to boot. Good luck and always work up your load in your gun.

I'm looking for one that will hit the 10 ring every time. Looks like the 200gr. SWC is the "Silver Bullet" I'm looking for.

You know every gun is different, I don't need to tell you that. What shoots well in my 1911 may not shoot well in yours but I have a good load that shoots very accurately in every 45 Auto pistol I shoot it from. I like 5.5gr W231 under a 230gr LRN bullet @ 1.265" OAL.

4.0 grains of Bullseye with a 200 grain SWC is the same thing I have shot thousands of rounds through my Gold Cup with.

I've been reloading 230 FMJ's with 5.0 gr of Bulls Eye for some time now. They shoot good. I was just looking for something a little better.

Well you have the best already listed, thing is your going to have to make the final tally with your own pistol in hand.

Mine likes 3.8 of BE under the HG 68, as well as around 4.2 of WST, and strangely enough around 6 of Unique.

Wishing you all the best in your quest.....

50 yds

A 200 gr lsw swaged bullet is more accurate than cast using Bullseye powder. or buy some Federal Premium Gold Medal Match Ammunition 185 Grain Full Metal Jacket Semi-Wadcutter, but it will co$t you a lot of $$$$$$$$$$

As you can see there are many options for good loads using different bullets, different powders and different charges too. What that is telling you, the 45 Auto is fairly easy to load and the ammo is usually accurate. There is a very good reason the 1911 and the cartridge created to shoot in the 1911 have been so popular for over 100 years.
