Taurus 12" .44 magnum?

Has anybody shot/owned one of these revolvers?

My father saw it in the CDNN catalog today and wants one now. I'm
thinking it'll make a nice after-Christmas present but I'm unsure
about the gun. How is it? Quality, durable, accurate or just a
gimmick?

$349.99 is low, but what would I be getting for the price?

if it follows my experience with Tauri, you'll be getting one hell of a gun.
The taurus boards are filled with people that love the 12" .44 Mag.

[Taurus 617 CCW]

I owned the Model 617 (as my username implies) and loved that gun. It was a solid shooter that never malfunctioned. It did have an advancing spring give way after who knows how many rounds but Taurus has a lifetime warranty on their guns. They had it back in less than two weeks good as new. I recommend getting it. You can't go wrong with a company who stands behind their products.
