Taurus 1911

It is the best 1911 in the $500 range. The trigger is not what I'd want from a $700+ 1911, but it's fine for the price range. A new set of ignition components would be my first investment; the Taurus could really shine with a crisp trigger.

You should expect a little inaccuracy for the first 200 rounds or so, then groups will tighten up nicely. Then expect the safety to break. That seems to be a reoccurring problem with these but it's a cheap and easy fix.

Love mine. The only thing I changed was the grips. The stock grips were a bit too rough on my delicate hide

The Taurus looks likea nice 1911.However,I just hate those huge Beavertails.Am I the only one?

Well Papa Bear, when you have big hands they really help out. I don't like getting bit.

I think the opposite when I see a GI model. I can't stand the smaller beaver tail on them. To my eye, the larger beaver tail is what makes the gun stand out from all the others.

I just bought one today, and all I have to say is wow. It is a nice pistol, shoots very well also. The only thing that I am planning on doing right now is change the grips. Very good pistol for the $$$ IMO.

Go into it knowing you're buying a tool, not a beauty queen, and you'll be happy, I think. The guys I shoot with are.

If I was worried about looks I'd have found a way to get my fundage bumped up for the Kimber Grand Raptor they had. My primary requirement for firearms is that they have to go bang and put SOMETHING in he direction I have it pointed. Beyond that, it's all gravy.

Bought a blue PT1911 last month , no safety problems noted . Its the 5th one I've owned , I got it to replace a well worn out AutoOrdinance 1911

OK, I'll be the one. My son bought a PT1911 on my recomendation in December. We sent the pistol back to the factory about 3 weeks ago because the safety came loose and would not function. We expect it back in a few weeks, and have descided that if the issue occures again, then we will fit a Wilson standard safety and keep on going. Otherwise, the pisto is fine.

BTW, right now he is using his Charles Daly 1911 as a back up.
