I have a good revolver but want a 1911 too. My brother, who is into guns, touts the Taurus as having good quality and value. Looks like I can get a new one for $500.

The only anticipated use is at a firing range and possibly resting in my nightstand. Reliability is a must.

Should I go for it?

I had 3 Taurus only one worked right from start. I would get a RIA Or a Metro Arms Firestorm or American Classic . I have given up on the T

I like mine alot,I brought mine to my smith when I bought it because I read a lot of negatives beeing said,he trued ,squared up every thing and did a action job on it I have about 5,000 rnds through it now and it runs like clock.
Next to my tunned gp100 its the most accurate hand gun I own Im using it for IDPA,and its given me o problems.
Bob.

I love mine as well

I have the Duo-tone model with no rail and I love it.:D I have more than 1200 rounds through it and have no malfunctions with the 800 or so rounds of factory ammo I have used. I have had 2 failures to return to battery, both of them were with my reloads that I forgot to crimp the case on. The case was still belled. The only fault there was mine.:banghead: The third failure was again with my reload, a very short light semi-wadcutter, with a wide shoulder. It was also the last round in a used mag that I had just bought. It stove piped. It could be a weak mag spring, or something else. Don't let the naysayers get you down, they will be along any time now. The Taurus is a fine gun. My buddy who owns a Springfield TRP, liked my Taurus so much that he says the only thing he would change on my gun is the sight. He likes the adjustable sights better. I like the adjustability of them too but, for carry, I like the Heinie straight eights that come on the gun just fine.
