Hey guys! I would like to know if and where I may be able to get parts for my grandfathers old taurus revolver. I can't find any info from Taurus' site or otherwise.

It is a blued 22Lr DA revolver
Frame is Marked -
INT. DIST. INC.
MIAMI. FLA

and to the right of that, almost past the trigger guard it says
69448 Made in Brazil

Barrel is markes 22LR on one side and something like Forjus Taurus SA on the other.

The revolver works beautifully except for the ungodly trigger pull. It has to be ten pounds. \

Any Info on the gun?
Any tips to replacing the trigger?

Thanks

L

Taurus parts are hard to come buy. I had a Taurus revolver that needed work and every gunsmith in the area but one turned me down. The reason? Taurus won't ship parts, they prefer you send it back to them for their (awful, IMO) warranty service. If all the gun needs is a trigger job and no replacement parts, take it to a local smith. Unless you have experience working on guns, I wouldn't go messing around with it. After all, it's your grandpa's gun and you don't want to go mucking it up.

I really don't want to muck it up. I would certainly take it somewhere. The problem is, it's old. Would they even still make the parts?

What parts do you need ?

You can contact Taurus customer service and ask them.

You can check on ebay for parts, or on other auction sites that auction off parts such as Gunbroker. There is generaly used parts available from distroyed guns.

Is this a 6 shot or a 9 shot gun ? The 9 shot guns are levered mechanicaly to a point where lightening DA pull is not compatable to reliable ignition.

You can also check with Numrich. They stock a parts for a lot of Taurus handguns.

Ten pounds trigger pull isn't actually that much on a DA revolver, especially a rimfire. For reliable ignition they require a stronger hammer strike than centerfire guns. Most current .22 revolvers have a heavy trigger pull.

Wolff makes springs for most Taurus guns. Without knowing what model you have, I can't be more specific, but if you can get it figured out, then Wolff may be your best bet for DIY. There is always the possibility that lighter springs will result in a good trigger and an unreliable .22, however.

Simply replacing parts with more Taurus parts is pretty unlikely to help. And Taurus almost certainly won't send you internal parts anyway.

Beyond that, the gun would probably benefit most from the attention of a decent gunsmith. Few modern guns come with acceptable trigger pulls from the factory, and Taurus is certainly no exception to that rule. The only question is whether a good trigger on that gun is worth the +/- $100 that a gunsmith would charge you for it.

Ten pounds isn't half bad for a DA pull on a .22 revolver.

If it works okay and is reliable, I vote for "leave it alone".

Small revolvers have badd triggers in general. As size increases trigger weight can go down. I have a model 94 that 10lbs also and its 24 + years old. You can get a hammer spring from wolf it its a small frame 9 shot . I tried a model 85 revolver spring and it worked maybe 80% of the time but did what was needed to teach my girls about guns in general and saftey.

Now if its broke they will still fix it for free.

Same here, I had a Taurus 94 and the trigger pull was a bit heavy, but didn't seem that bad. I also vote just leave it alone. :)
