The 24/7 has to be one of the most comfortable pistols I have ever handled. Only question I have, is the 24/7 hit and miss in reliability like the rest of the taurus autos? What are some of the pros and cons of this pistol?

Yes. Some of the pistols apparently are good, but a lot of us have had some serious lemons.

What are some of the pros and cons of this pistol?
Pro: incredible ergonomics, 100% reliable, lifetime warranty
Con: strange but not bad trigger, hard to hit the side of a barn, not easy to get Taurus to make good on warranty

At least that was my experience. YMMV

Well Taurus is a very low-budget gun with some nice features

Now, I have had my share of problems with Taurus pistols over the years, but after looking at the price point, I took a look see last week. They have nice ergos. They have the rail. Sights are nice. In fact, I prefer the straight 8s to the old 3-dot, but that's another story. Fit and finish were pretty good.

What I found really interesting, and dare I say, impressive, is the quality of the trigger. I tried about half a dozen on a couple different models and came away with a new found regard for Taurus. Basically, the trigger seems to be a hybrid ~5-6 lb single action that has an external safety, but also has DA second strike capability. I also checked out the Millenium and the 1911 and was impressed, overall, with the value that one gets in both of these lines as well. I think Taurus have come a very long way in the last few years, offering much improved products that anyone can afford to purchase-this coming from a sworn Taurus-basher.

Reliabilityis affected by many variables. Ammo selection is important with autos, Taurus or otherwise. And like cars, sometimes a lemon comes along. like hyundai, Taurus seems to be a much-improved but still reasonably priced budget-car that now come with some really great standard features. I think your best bet is to go try some out, before you buy.

I have to agree about the 24/7 trigger. I just picked up a new one last week for $340 and it's one heck of a lot of gun for the money. Basically it's an upsize of the PT111/PT145 Pro, two guns that I hold in very high regard. While I haven't fired the 24/7 yet I can say that in dry firing it is the best Taurus trigger that I've experienced. My PT111 MilPro is DAO and I thought that was a great trigger and then found an even better one with my SA/DA PT145 Pro, and now the 24/7 seems the equal or better than that. The presence of a manual safety really makes me happy.

As to the downside, as to the gun itself, other than what I've heard about occasional lemons (no personal experience on that, only hearsay) I find the price of Taurus magazines to be a bit on the high side. I like to have at least five or six mags for each gun that I own, so mag prices are a concern to me. The other issue is warranty work. Taurus' customer service has some weak points. You'll hear varying reports but you should be prepared for the possibility that they will hold on to your gun for an inordinate amount of time. Also, I have personally found their phone customer service little more than useless. Others will have had other experiences, but a prospective gun buyer should be aware of these potential issues. I fully expect Taurus' customer service to catch up with the excellence/value of their guns, but if a Tuarus is to be a first and/or only gun I would chose a brand with better and more timely warranty/customer service. If you have other guns to shoot should there be downtime, to me the Taurus is the best value going in the gun world.

Oh, one other thing about the 24/7 that I don't like. The ribber grip forces your fingers into a particular hold. Many guns do that and that particular finger placement may not be best for a particular hand. When I hold the gun with my dominant right hand it feels just a little bit funny, and with my left hand it feels perfect. I also find that the seam where the rubber ribber grip meets the frame is just a little low and could benefit by being just a tad higher towards the junction of the triggerguard and frame. To me this is a minor subjective point, and possibly they tried a different placement and chose the one that was best for the most folks.

I have a 24/7 .40S&W (not PRO) it's my carry gun. In over 2000 rounds never had a malfunction of any kind.

Love mine

just bought the 24/7 pro in 9mm. love the trigger on it. Better than the pt111 type series. plus you have 13 and 17 round mags for it.

I am nothing but pleased with every taurus I have handled... Ive owned 3, still have one, the other 2 I confidently sold to family. I am left with my PT111SSP MilPro.
Im quite content.

If yer after High Quality that you have to pay High buck for... dont go for a Taurus. If yer after high quality for a realistic firearm pricetag.... check out a Taurus...

just my 2.

Go over to Taurusarmed.net and you can read my review on my 10,000 round test on one of my 2 24/7 Pro 45's

The other is my daily CCW and it has been 100% reliable just as the other was with 10,000 rounds through it.

As for the "hard to hit the side of a barn" comment it is simply not true, dont believe for a second that just because someone is a bad shot does not mean it is the guns fault ;)

the 24/7 is very accurate..here is 12 shots at 14 yards

my experience is as RancidSumo said, I had a 24/7 40. I put 750, mostly wolf ammo. never a ftf or a fte. I loved the feel of the gun and the way It shot, but I could not hit with it. I blamed the gun, but friends of mine did much better with it. So I concluded that it did not like me. Dead reliable but it needed something that I didn't have. Went back to 9mm.
