Where ever the good LORD puts me.
At a LGS they have a Taurus 441 with either a 2.5" or 3" barrel and I've been thinking about of getting a .44 Spcl. So is this a good revolver or is a Charter arms Bulldog a better choice?
I'm not trying to start a flame war, just wondering if anyone likes theirs or one they have shot.
Thanks in advance.

Never had one, but the reports from those who have them is that they are great. Given Taurus' reputation and my own experience with the brand, I would buy the Taurus over the Charter Arms. I"m not enough of an expert to know exactly which year the CA's were good and which they were bad. There is some kind of black art to figuring those things out, since the brand changed hands several times.

Weregunner thanks for the links. I tried looking up reviews on it, but there's not much out there. Wow four of them, plus some 431's!
It must be a 3". The shop was busy so I did not get to hold it, but it looked in good shape, might stop by later this week and check it out.

I don't plan on hotroding it to anywhere near .44 mag velocities, just thought it might make a good "farm" gun/CCW.
Still don't know if I'd get it or not, but it's something to look in to.

Like Weregunner said, they are an excellent gun. I had one and let it go to my brother who wanted it. Big mistake, but I also bought another one at a gun show as well as the model 445. They are keepers.

Taurus 441s were built from 1993-1997 so reviews, even if old ones, would be near impossible to find.

I like the 4" model for field carry and for CCW.

Rossi made the 720 in .44 Special from 1992-1998, but these have a 3" barrel only. Own one of those as well. The 720 is a 5 shot revolver as well.

For example there is this.

www.gunbroker.com has 2 Taurus 441s for auction right now. There are also 3 Taurus 431s for sale as well.

Greetings
Not 44's but I have two Titanium 41 mags and one Stainless 41 mag all Taurus. Not a problem with any. Back about 20 years ago we bought each of my sons a 357 mag Taurus. One son still has his and it functions fine.

Hope it works out for you. I had a 431 years ago. It was accurate and comfortable. Wish I had not sold it and don't remember why I did. One odd thing, the balance and grip shape made it one of the most comfortable DA revolvers I have ever handled. It worked for my very large hands as well as some petite girls from my wife's office we were teaching to shoot. I thought they would prefer the 22 revolvers but they all really liked that 44 special Taurus.

If I ever find a 441 with 4 inch barrel in good shape, I would be very tempted.

Stopped by and checked it had no end shake and just a touch of side to side play. Finish was in the "used, but not abused" area, but since it will be used if I get it, that does not bother me. The price was just a little higher than I remember, but they had several handguns that caught my eye, so I probably remembered wrong. Still thinking on it, since I'll have to buy loading dies for it.
Boy it sure felt good in the hand and they have free layaway for up to 90 days.:banghead:
