I did a bit of research and noticed people have liked their 617 but I do like the 605 in poly.

I do believe the 617 weighs 24oz and 605 is 28oz are there any liter Taurus snubies in 357 that ant titanium? also looking at the 651 that weighs 25oz the Taurus 851UL weighs 17oz (appealing to me but not 357 =/)

I just got the wife a Taurus 85 2" 38sp with pachmyer grip with pinky groove. And I am in love with it. However I am in love with the shrouded hammer of certain Taurus. Her 85 weighs 21oz i believe.

I currently carry a Charter Arms Bull Dog 44sp and I believe that weighs 22oz and handles like a 38sp, but still kinda bulky. I do like how the 85 is snug against my body without the grip extending out.

Any info on carrying, weight, handling and accuracy.

I owned a stainless 617 a while back that locked up and required smithing. Once it was running, it shot pretty well and handled nice. I did find it rather large for cc but with a good holster and belt I'm sure it would be fine. The grips feel great in the hand and the weight helps soak up a lot of the recoil. The seven shot cylinder is nice but the chamber walls always seemed a bit thin to me.

I am interested in the 605 protector polymer. I have found very little info on it that I can compare its size to something I know

I think you have your weights for the 617 and 605 flip flopped. I already have a 651 and love it. It is one of my main summer carry pieces. I want a 617 because it holds 7 vs 5, and weighs a bit more so shooting .357 will be more tolerable.

The 617 is built on a larger frame, has a bigger grip, and therefore will be even harder to conceal than a 605, 651, 85, or even your Charter .44 special.

I have carried a 605 as my main carry gun for years. I dallied with a glock for a while, but am back to the 605.

The 617 carries well AIWB for me. Mine has a very smooth DAO action making it easy to shoot accurately. I installed a Hogue Grip and also sent the Gun to a Company in Michigan to have a Front Night Sight installed. I have it's big brother, a 4" 627 Tracker and little sister, 605. All very nice guns.

Steel 605 3 inch here, for 10yrs,. Not as heavy as my SP101.
Trigger is crisp at 3.5 lbs, boringly accurate.
Carries well in a Masters leather paddle with snap retention.
Gets the nod when not needing my various CZ's.

I find the factory rubber grips are just OK, A pair of 85 grips work welll for me.
