Anyone with real experience with one of these? As in owned or shot one? Pros or cons? What size S&W frame would be comparable? K-Frame or L-Frame? Would accessories such as holsters for K-Frames or the Taurus 85 fit? Speedloaders for S&W 686 should fit, right?

Just looking for hands on experiences - owned or shot.

Thanks!

I've had one for years. Mine is DAO. The Action is very smooth making it easy to shoot accuratly. It came with a small rubber grip that wasn't good for 357 recoil. I put the Ribber Grip on and later the Hogue. I wood compair it's size to a 66 Smith. A hair bigger maybe because it's a 7 shot. The only holster I used was a universal leather IWB with clip. I used to carry it as a EDC but I have developed Arthiritis. The combination of size and weight makes gripping and drawing a little painfull not having as much strength as I used to. I still carry it sometimes but normally carry Two 5 shot Rugers. It handles 357 ammo with no problem and has held up well. I almost forgot. I use HKS Speed Loaders, #587

My daily carry gun is a Taurus® Mdl 617SS2. I received the gun in 05/2003 as a birthday gift from my wife. The gun has far exceeded all of my expectations and to how a defensive snub nose revolver should perform. Now, 11 years later, it still serves as my EDCG. Taurus Mdls 405, 445, 455, 617, 627, 817, and TRACKER™S are all "COMPACT FRAME" revolvers. Compact Frame revolvers are larger than a small frame, Taurus®, Rossi®, or Smith & Wesson J Frame; but smaller than a Smith & Wesson® K Frame, or Taurus®/Rossi® Medium Frame. As previously stated by Haywood the HKS®-587 is the speed loader to use. As for holsters, the following three are a PERFECT FIT for the 617.....
• Sticky® MD-5
• Uncle Mikes® Super Belt Slide Size 0 (Zero)
• Theis® Tuckable

Thanks. That was the info I was looking for. I could not figure out the size of the frame. Taurus had it listed as their medium frame but its measurements didn't quite jibe with a K-Frame.
