I ran 3 boxes of Fiocchi +p+ ammunition thru my little 709 and i'm impressed with both. There was some speculation that this ammo was not +p but I can vouch that it's extremely hot.
The gun shot extremely accurately and powerfully with this ammo and after taking it down for cleaning cannot find any evidence of wear nor damage.
I can heartily recommend this little gun with +p ammo. It performs flawlessly. And if you can get your hands on this ammo, do so. I got 5 boxes for < 19.00 dollars a box (it may have been 15.99, I ordered it 6 weeks ago and it's been sitting around waiting for a rainy day to go shooting). In any case - the Fiocchi ammunition is extremely hot and extremely reliable. The only drawback is that it's not hollow point - simple FMJ stuff.
But it really pounds the lead on the steel.
I'd like to hear if at this point in time whether those who had problems with their SLIMS have had them resolved, or from people who have had very good luck. I really love the gun and believe at this point that the pistol design is very good.
