Taurus 850CIA .38spl.

Guys I'm looking at buying one of these NIB for $340. It's blued all steel version of the S&W centenial model. Does anyone have much experience with this model. Also how good are the Taurus snubbies. I've heard alot of mixed reviews.
Thanks.

You just opened the worm can. There's lots of posts on "Taurus is ... or isn't... crap" or "my taurus ran out of ammo, I'm pissed" or whatnot on this board. It's all in the search. There's a Taurus post on here about 5 times a week and twice on Sundays.

Me, I've had a M85SSUL (stainless alloy .38 with exposed hammer) for a dozen years. It's accurate, smooth trigger out of the box, and always goes bang. No, it doesn't have the Smith and Wesson logo on the side, but I like it anyway and carry it quite often. I like the idea of the 851s/Smith body guard type shielded hammer guns, but I don't have a problem with the hammer spur in a pocket with my 85. I really don't care for a completely concealed hammer, like having SA capability. I tend to instinctively draw with my thumb on the hammer, probably a habit from my various Ruger single actions.

I have a 650 and I love . More than that I trust my life to it as it is my primary ccw! Paid just over $400 for the SS .357 650. More than 1000 rds without a hitch!!!

The real problem is that Taurus handguns are just as hard to find as any other makers handgun. And when you can find them, they tend to be just as outrageously priced as everything else is.

Revolvers aren't hard to find down here at all. Now, I don't even wanna talk about trying to find a Ruger LCP. Seems most anything cancealable and auto loading is tough to come by right now, but then hell, most people don't handload and I hear .380 ACP ammo is even harder to come by. Go figure.

Now, pricing on EVERYTHING is stupid right now. I guess it's the only thing I remember from high school economics, supply and demand. :D

I think I'm just going to sit on my wallet until this stupid political scare blows over. I'm hoping its 4 years and not 8, personally.

i have the 850 CIA in TITIAUMN i like it have not had any trouble out of any of the Taurus i have bought past or present.

As MCgunner said the Taurus debate is hot and heavy on every forum. I carry my Taurus 605ss daily and have never had any problems. I to like being able to choose SA or DA. The hammer dosen't cause me any problems. The 850CIA should serve you well.

I used to have four Taurus' handguns two revolvers (both snubbies) and two pistols.

Taurus may have had some quality problems in the past, but I was very happy with the performance of the guns I had.
