Taurus announced, I believe at SHOT Show, the introduction of a single action revolver called "Deputy".
It may be early yet - has anyone seen or purchased one of these ?
If so, can you share your thoughts on or experience with it ?
Thanks in advance !

I don’t think it’s bluing, and if it is it’s not lining up with the “deep satin black finish” specified in the description. Looks like it might be a solid revolver though. I wish Taurus would get over the billboard phase.

I have one of the guachos. Everything on it fits right and it is as accurate as I am. The bluing is excellent. The only gripe I had was the sharp checking on the grips that would make my hand red and tender with one cylinder of shooting and they disappeared pretty quickly in favor of smooth wood which have morphed into rubber. I don't give a flip about CASS so I'm perfectly happy with it and don't even notice the transfer bar system. I do shoot light reloads in it to keep wear and tear down on my wrist and only shooting steel, paper, and coke cans have no need for heavy loads. It has the 7 1/2" barrel so is a fair replica of the original SAA and I appreciate the long sight radius.

I had a Gaucho in 357 back in the day. I mostly shot 38spl in it and it was a reliable, accurate shooter. I don't remember any coming back in to the gun shop for repairs. I hope they make a short barrel model with bird's head grips.

Just received an email that's announcing a limited run Big Iron built on the Deputy. The address looks to come from Taurus but the link takes one to Big Tex Ordinance for pre sales. Big Tex appears to check out as valid, scam detector has nothing on them and reviews appear to be positive. Dunno.......

The price is right, but between the frame fitting, the billboard, and the really strange hammer, I guess I can't work up much enthusiasm.

I would love to own a SAA clone in 357 with the 7.5" barrel. They're hard to find. But maybe the Gaucho or Deputy might be the ticket
