Thanks for sharing your experience with the Taurus 605 5-shot, .357 magnum revolver. One of my favorite gunshops has one for $400 OTD. How'd you rate this price?

Not real good, actually.
The MSRP on the blued 605's is just over $400. The stainless guns go $450-$475. Those prices came from the Taurus web site.
But, if you like the gun, go buy it.
Also, a Ruger SP101 would set you back about the same price as the stainless 605.

I like Taurus revolvers, btw. I own 3 and have had around 10 over the years. Two of the three I own are used extensively as carry guns.

I dont know about a 605... but my 608 is one of my favorite guns...scratch that..it is my favorite... tonight... completely unrelated... but still..

Now you tell me!

PT1911, it is because I share the same sentiment as yours about the 608 that I wanted the 605, it's "small brother" I was told. But for $400 that looked rather steep to me. Given that gun prices went up some lately and that this particular model is not easily available (as far as I could tell), I wonder if I should still feel as bad for getting it at $400.

I picked up a Taurus .357 in trade for a 10/22... granted, the 10/22 had a tapco stock, and a couple of bolt on's but we both decided they were $300 guns.

I like the Taurus, but I also like my S&W, and others... Some just cost more.

I have a 605 and love it. But for that or only pennies more you can buy Ruger.

ETA: I own more Smiths than any other FWIW

$400 is a bit much. I got mine for $320 NIB about 6 months ago, so I would say $350-370 is more reasonable. I would talk him down or shop around.

High

Offer him $325 and bargain in at around 365 or thereabouts. Nice revolver, just got one myself. And the price range quoted should be for a stainless.
