Taurus Fan Club Only. Pls identify my Taurus .38 Spl model?

Dear Taurus Fan club,

I got this gun from my father but don't know the model of it. Any one can identify is gun for my please. Because I need the model number to register this gun. Thank you in advance.

PS/ I've seen only .38 Special on the barrel. My father got this gun since 1977

Now, that's the Taurus USA site, so it my not help. If that's the case, find the Taurus site that covers distribution to Thailand. Click on Customer Care, then Find My Model.

I lost the paperwork for my model 85SS2, and I couldn't remember model number or specs. I called customer service and gave them the serial number. The rep I talked to was very helpful. He identified the model number and answered questions. My main question was weather or not my 85 was rated for +P. He assured me it was. I also used their online serial look up so I could view the information myself. That was easy and helpful as well. My experience with Taurus customer service was very positive.

Unfortunately, I have tried that before but I think my serial number is older than the database they has. Nothing found when i query with my gun serial number.

It looks to me to be a Taurus Model 83. Introduced in 1977 and chambered in .38 Special, it featured a 4" heavy barrel, blue or nickel finish, ramp front sight-micro click rear sight, and weighed 34 1/2 oz. Hope this helps.
