Hi,

I have a Taurus 85 and I recently noticed that the firing pin is freely dangling even before a pull of the trigger, it can still shoot just fine but to reload the pin blocks the next reload from coming in so I know it's broken. My question is how can I fix it and can I do it on my own, if so what parts do I need or should I just take it to a smith?

Thanks!

The firing pin return spring might be broken (or missing if the revolver is new to you). You only have to take off the grips and side plate, and remove the firing pin retaining pin to check. There are pretty good instructions on how to disassemble your revolver over in the Smithing section at Taurus Armed.

If that's the case, a replacement can be had from Numrich (e-gunparts.com)

Be careful when you pull that retaining pin, it's easy to misplace (ask me how I know).

Regards,

U
